I think Michael Thompson used to post on the other Bobcats fan board a while back when fan interaction was a lot worse.

Scott Lauer, the team's radio guy, was let go as well.

Are these temporary or permanent layoffs?

I hope they'll get Lauer back after the lockout ends.

what about the ladycats?

fred whitfields celebrity golf tournament (hooptee) is next week. i wonder who will show up this year. i am assuming that no current NBA players can attend this year since MJ will be there. last year chris paul was there and it was shortly after the end of the tournament that all the chris paul to the bobcats rumors started.

And Larry Clown ignored the media all day and refused to acknowledge the Bobcats, if he wanted to be here, what the future of the team was and if he was looking forward to the upcoming season.............

If it's for charity, I think NBA players could show up (there can be exceptions to the rule like Bosh's wedding). I think it would be silly if some players couldn't go to a golf tournament because a current owner (and former player) is also attending.

It brings up another question; can Jordan even talk to his Team Jordan athletes?

Also i forgot to say that it's sad these people lost their jobs in these hard financial times.

I hope the wealthy players & owners realise that everyday hardworking people who make up the spectactle known as the NBA are losing their employment.

Lauer is very underrated. The guy had to do both play by play and color. I much preferred listening to him than the guys on TV. I hope they bring him back.

I'm also disappointed they sacked Thompson. He was very pro-social media which is what the team really needed.

Lauer ran the entire radio program himself and also chipped in on the website. He was a busy man. I'm sure he'll get his job back when the lockout ends. It is really hard to find a person like that, not just dedicated but skilled also.

If he is allowed to play here I can't see why players can't play in the HoopTee gig.

  Unfortunately, this is just the beginning. With 22-30 NBA Teams losing money its only going to get worse. And with the real unemployment rate around 17-20%, it won't take long for the teams that are really hurting badly to fold. :x

Do you really think that 20% of americans are unemployed while being able and willing to work (and over the age of 18 and not students).

Those numbers that you are spouting are depression numbers cuz. The last news report I heard said unemployment was more like 11%.

As far as the teams folding goes it is more likely that the teams hurting are sold to new owners. This seems to be happening already. I don't think the nba will allow any teams to fold unless absolutely necessary. The only team that really may be in real danger of folding is the Hornets. They have already been relocated once, lost their primary owner, and are still struggling.
