ATL/SAC

SAC S&T Thornton 3-4M + 2nd for Marvin
Why? they need a young athletic SF Thornton is not as needed now that they have added fredette and Salmons.

ATL adds a shooter and save salary cap 3.5-4.5M

Next ATL S&T JC1 to Denver for JR Smith at 6-7M and saves another 3.5M. They migt have to use part of that to sign a back-up SF, capable of starting though...Battier, Thornton. Prince would have a higher price tag but could allow us to move Smoothe + pick for...Nene.

Teague- Hinrich- Carter (FA m)
JJ- JR- Thornton
Prince- Damian (FA m)-JJ
Horford- FA- Rolle
Nene- Pachulia- Benson

I wouldn't think that SAC would pull the trigger on that deal... so forth kicking in the 2nd. In fact, I'd say they'd scream bloody murder if you put this in front of them in the T&T board, but they are prolly the top 5 of teams' fans here that really have no realistic idea of their players' worth so I guess that doesn't mean much...

For us, if we dump Marvin and get anything of value back, then it's a win for us. Marvin needs a change of scenery, and we need a better fit @ SF. Typically, NBA teams will dump Marvin and go the FA route for the fit, but if it could happen in a trade then all the better. I'd happily include Marvin in any SNT scenario... and have no problem kicking in a 2nd for someone else to take him off our hands.

Marvin for Honeycutt is good enough for me.

I'm a big fan of Marcus Thornton. He was on my top 5 draft board, so it was nice to see him play and receive more freedom with the Kings, but I doubt they'd be interested in Marvin Williams due to his contract.

variation involving CHI
Marvin + ATL 2nd going to CHI
Korver-Asik going to SAC
Thompson going to ATL and SAC 2nd to CHI

I doubt CHI wants to trade Asik and Korver for Marvin and two 2nd rnd picks
OK, a SAC 2nd is almost a ATL 1st, but if CHI was interested, maybe we have better to cut SAC and get Asik.

We clearly need Asik more than Thompson

We would have to take someone else in return e.g Korver + Asik and we still would be saving. thibodeaux like what Marv can do defensively (he saw him play first hand against BOS a few years back and marv was quite aggressive during that serie).

We would have to give more though so maybe:
Asik-Korver for Marvin- ATL 2nd- Hou 2nd (from andersen trade)

JT- Hinrich- Sy
JJ- Korver- FA (Thornton)
Smoothe- FA (J.Jones or Battier)- Damian
Al- FA (Davis) - Rolle
Zaza- Asik (or Asik - Zaza depending on production)- Benson- Collins

ATL loaded with shooters: Korver, Thornton behind JJ and Jones. I would see Jones and Korver playing with JT, Smoothe and Al at times...Smoking guns!

I don't see SAC doing the original deal. Thornton played very well towards the end of the season. He should command more than that salary and would cost way more than Marvin.

Great player, reminded me of Dwyane Wade at LSU. Was a big guard in college that liked to post up if possible and could shoot from anywhere.

Now that his measurements came out and we've seen his advantages against NBA players he reminds of Monta Ellis with more size. A little bit better on the defensive end and great offense. Too bad he and CP3 couldnt figure out the defense.

Just curious @uga_dawgs24 How much $ u think he'll garner?.
