I went with Kemba to break the franchise single game points but I think Biz can break the franchise single game block record if given extended minutes.

You guys are missing the point. Those guys blocked so many shots because they were huge. Not because they were such great players. Mark was 7'4. Shawn Bradley was 7'6. Biz has a monstrous wingspan just like those guys with more athletesism. He will chase down blocks that those guys would never have made. Yes they did their thing on the defensive end, but Biz will as well. I got confidnence in our guy.

And DM321 I am old enough to remember the game that made Mark Eaton a household name. The game where Jordan dunked on him. These guys especially Shawn were stiffs. Anyone who is old enough to have seen them play knows that.

But they were effective stiffs.

I used to follow Dallas in the Shawn Bradley era and it wasn't just the blocks.
The amount of shots he used to affect just by his presence, people were intimidated by his length and would adjust their shots.

They were defensive specialists and used their length to advantage.

To claim that BB will definitely block more shots than these white stiffs is a bit premature.

You do know who Mark Eaton is right???

He wasn't a stiff.....

He averaged 5.6 blocks a game in a season.....

Do you honestly think Biz will better that???

Don't really understand what Eaton's season average has to do with Biz potentially breaking a single game franchise record...

DJQuick mentioned that he expects Biyombo to get more blocks than Eaton or Bradley hence why Eaton's season average was mentioned.

I voted for Biyombo to get the 10 blocks as I consider it the most likely but I wouldn't go so far as to say he will be a better shotblocker than Mark Eaton.

Like I said before I was watching the nba regularly in those days, and I consider him to be a stiff which is why the truly great centers of the era all housed him regularly.

No, he is not likely to do so, but only because of the new lane violation rules. Mark played pryor to those rules, so at 7'4 of course he's going to block a lot of shots. He was free to camp in the lane all night.

SickInfant that was meant as a rhetorical statement. The point was that Bizzy B should have no problem getting that record.

That's a good point. Eaton would not be able to average those numbers today in a world where 3 second defensive violations exist.

I really dislike that 3 second violation. Though on offense it makes sense.

Yup, a stupid rule in an attempt to make it easier to score and have box scores like they did in the 90's. FAIL.

I thought it was a bit of a trade off for getting rid of the Illegal Defence rule?

There were concerns that teams would just stay in zone defences with centre constantly clogging the paint, so they brought in the 3 second rule. Even Michael Jordan made a presentation to the NBA asking the illegal defence rule stay as he thought he wouldn't have had such a great career without it.

I hated the illegal d rule more than the 3 second rule.

I still don't think that you get that many blocks by accident but the rhetoric point taken.

I actually believed the conspiracy theory that they changed the rule to limit Shaq's domination.

The illegal d rule was confusing as hell. The simplistic answer was that you always had to be defending someone. If you were going to provide help defence you had to get over and guard that person you couldn't hedge your bets and stay between your direct opponent and another's. You couldn't guard an area and basically zone defences were illegal.

Made it difficult for the refs.

It made it harder to score...unless your name was Michael Jordan.

I hated it too & it made it ugly with the thug defense of that era.

Sounds like it made it too easy to score...
