If Cousins could be a double-double guy that would BEAST! However I don't see that happening next year.

I agree with these numbers. I think that is a reasonable increase to expect. Maybe a bit optimistic on the assist numbers but I think 2.9 is doable.

Re: Predict Cousins' stats next season
Hard to say, I'd almost like to see the scoring less and the assists more. His passing is the most phenomenal part of his game and by far the most polished right now. If put in the right situation I think he could be a legit 4 apg guy as early as next season. After watching some of his better passing games last year if Westphal focused on Cousins as a passer first and scorer second I think he'd easily be a positive assist to turnover ratio player.

Re: Predict Cousins' stats next season
I think reducing his scoring impact is a big mistake. We may have plenty of perimeter scorers, but there are so few teams in the league currently with a player who can score in the post like Cousins can. that is a ridiculously huge advantage that I wouldn't want to go to waste. I'm fine with increasing his role as a passer, but I hope if he is getting 10 rbs per game then his scoring should be at a minimum of 15 pts because atleast 3-4 of those rbs should be put backs.

I think the Reb stat would depend if Sammy D comes back.
With Sammy D. 18 pts / 8-9 reb / 3 ast / 1 stl / .8 blk
Without Sammy D. 18 pts / 10-12 reb / 3 ast / 1 stl / .8 blk

That's true, but until he can stop with the silly turnovers and offensive fouls the single most unflawed part of his game is his passing which is just simply elite as a C. I'm not saying to not give him the ball in the post, but to focus more on his passing from there. Teams are going to double him in the post, use that double by designing more back cuts, dish outs, and hand off passes and in return get much better shots on average. This team worked way to hard to score and if that happens next year it's probably the biggest waste of scoring depth in history. Cousins can iso score, but there was a point in the season where all this team did was go isolation from the triple threat, just such a waste. Westphal started to get it towards the end of the year, I just hope he continues along that same path.
3-4 rebounding put backs is probably too much to ask from anyone that isn't continuously rebounding his own miss. He's a good offensive rebounder but you can't rely on that all the time.

Me too, although Hickson and JT are very good rebounders as well. Another thing Westphal needs to focus on less is sending everyone to both boards. Last year was nice and all, but it was overkill for the most part. Sacrificed playing good solid D and cost a few seconds on most offensive plays because the entire team crashed the defensive and offensive glass. The small forward was half playing his man the majority of the time because they were too busy waiting for the board. Let your bigs handle that for craps sake, that's what they're for!

Re: Predict Cousins' stats next season
Honestly I would rather see an improvement with Cousins attitude/work ethic and decrease his T.O and Fouling. If he could do that and stay at or a little bit above his last years stat line that would be a phenominal improvement for our team.
16.5 ppg - 8.9 rpg - 3.2 apg - .8 spg - .8 bpg.

Re: Predict Cousins' stats next season
I see a slight increase across the board--largely due to some increased minutes with fewer fouls.
In 31 minutes, I'll go with 15.5 points on 47% from the field and 70+% from the line (6+ FTA/game). This would give him, I think, about an average TS%, which would be a big step up. It's a little lofty, but I think it's doable.
Then I would put him at 9.5+ RPG, and 3.2APG to 2.9TO/game--just about switching the places for Assists and TO's from last year. That's still a lot of TO's but also a lot of assists for a big his age.
And around a steal and a block per game. Also I'm thinking that, in more minutes, maybe he gets down to like, 3.5-3.8 fouls per game. That would allow us to keep him on the floor a lot more.

Nah, i was kidding
Cousins is a lot better than Monroe imo. Even Monore averaged double-double after the allstar weekend, i still think he lacks the athleticism, quickness and explosiveness. Anyway, I think Cousins will be a 20-15 player in the league one day

I figured as much considering you came on the board not too long ago offering the Pistons future for Whiteside, hahaha.

Re: Predict Cousins' stats next season
Monroe and Cousins are two completely different style of players, so its hard to compare.
Anyways, I think going forward, Cousins needs to be the focal point of our offense. Imagine how good he can be if he comes into camp next year in much better shape? He will be a freaking beast.
If teams have to double him, because they're having problems stopping him 1on1, with his passing ability, other guys will thrive. Reke will have open lanes to the basket. Jimmer, Marcus & Salmons will have wide open looks all day long if they pass properly. And all are good shooters.
That's a recipe for success if they can learn to work together and play of of DMC, who showed a willingness to pass last year.

Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.
That just happened.
