A scenario where we should sign Bibby
Before everyone says "that ship has sailed" read the scenario first.
Bibby was a bad experiment in MIA simply because his skills have diminished. Mike was never a good defender, now its to the point where he's too SLOW to keep up (see NBA Finals). Bibby is a free agent who probably has the mindset Ring or bust.
The Scenario: Kings were unable to sign any PG's they targeted in free agency.
No teams have shown any interest in signing Bibby. He is 33 years old, who just finished up his 13th season in the league. Mike faces retirement. GP makes the call with both recognizing the position Mike is at in this point in his career. Kings sign Mike Bibby. GP gets a PG with 100 games playoff experience to be 3rd PG/tutor for vet min. Bibby gets one more year in the League full of fan favorite cheers, retiring from basketball with a good taste in his mouth.
The question: Bibby tutor? Keep this in mind Bibby is a high IQ player. Remember his strengths on offense where the pick n roll, shooting, and playing off passing big men in the post.
I think a great example is SAR. I dont see Bibby coaching right after like SAR, or coaching at all. But I can imagine Mike taking Jimmer/Evans under his wing in practice and in the locker room.
*obviously this wont happen if Bibby has a team who is targeting him.

Re: A scenario where we should sign Bibby
The only reason to sign Bibby is if you believe he will fill seats . Also if you feel he will sign for the minumum both those requirements must be meet .
If not then its a huge waste because he would not be a great mentor as he would not be able to teach defense as he doesnt guard . Additionally bibby assist average per game is not that great for a point guard throughout his entire career he shots the ball from the outside far more than he should . As in m ost cases point guards should be looking to pass 1st before shooting unless they can drive the ball to the hoop . Bibby has a bad habit of chucking the ball up to much , not passing the ball enough & doesnt play defense .
Unless signing him was to fill seats & he took the bare minumum I would have to say dont sign him .

Bibby played on a team where everyone got their shots. He was a big part of that offense. It was designed for him to shoot. If you look at his stats recently his shot taking has taken a dip even though his percentages remained the same.
Also of course you dont bring Bibby in to mentor Defense.

All I can say is, I hope he won't be teaching our guards how to shoot, especially after the way he shot in the playoffs.

No reason to pick up the Apple II E when you've got the new macbook pro in the wings.
Seriously though, the only reason to sign Bibby is if he retires immediately so he could retire a King. He can still play IMO. Needs to be find the right team, this isn't it. Don't remember ever hearing about Bibby being that "leader" type either. Could be, but I don't think that's really one of his things. Bibby is probably a good role model for a player like Jimmer to follow but as far as Bibby imparting any much needed wisdom? I just don't see it.

Re: A scenario where we should sign Bibby
I find it strange that anyone would say that Bibby would not make a good mentor. I am honestly dumbfounded. I think some of you guys are missing the point here. Our team is young, we have several players with questionable attitudes/work ethics and a huge lack of nba experience.
Now lets discuss Mike Bibby, a fan favorite and true professional. He has had a great work ethic his entire career. He has been a great teammate and starting point gaurd on most of his teams and has a lot of play off experiece He knows what works in the locker room/off court and what does not ..
Sure Bibby might not have been the perfect point gaurd.. his defense was not great and at times you could find fault in his shot selection. And he did seem to disapear in the play offs on more than one occasion.
But to say that he would not make a great mentor at this point in his career is CRAZY. He can bring harmony to our locker room, I think he is well respected and could bring a lot of experience.. and I'm sure he could teach them a thing or two about defense aswell, just because a player is not good at something does not mean he can not teach it... there are many coaches who lack real college/nba experience... in college and nba level.. but they're still able to coach and teach players fundamentals and all the tips n tricks of the trade... that has to do with work ethic/potential and talent.... I.E ... a player like bibby could teach a player like jimmer how to defend correctly... all the short cuts/tips and tricks of the trade.. what to expect and how to adjust.... and jimmer depending on his talent/potential/work ethic can take that to heart and prefect it .... and be a much better defender than Bibby could ever have been...

I don't think it's a crazy notion at all. We certainly could use the veteran help.

Even if they signed Bibby, he's not going to take minutes away from Evans
(the only Macbook Pro of our backcourt)

I've been impressed with Thornton so far.....but I'm not quite ready to put him on quite that level yet

Bibby is no longer an NBA caliber player. He can barely move out there & his shooting continues to get worse. I would like to see him sign & then retire as King. I doubt Evans would take any advice from Mike anyway.

NONONONONONONONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO MIKE BIBBY!!!!!!!
NO TEAM DIME BACK IN SAC TO MAKE TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO GOING DOWN THE COURT BIG BALLS SWINGING NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Far to many negatives and bad habits/attitude to learn and Mike was NEVER a leader for that team, but merely a functioning piece. THAT needs to be clearly understood. Vlade and Christie were the LEADERS.

Hell no to Mike Bibby. That train has passed. I'd rather take a chance on Allen Iverson on a non-guaranteed contract over Mike Bibby.

Oof, could you imagine? There's a chance this team is way overloaded with scorers already, that would just make it way worse! hahaha.

Why can't some of you let that team go?
