best strategy is to find a balance between taking BPA while also filling in hard categories. if you can get a first round talent in a very random category, then you are gold.

but for the first few rounds don't get too tricky. i.e. if the only way you can take lebron is to use the all-star category, then you better do it even if thats the easiest category. those all-star spots will go fast from other categories so if you wait too long to fill it you will be stuck taking mo williams or something similarly crappy.

True. I think I know who my first selection will be.

Internet goes down or 2 weeks while I move into a new apartment and I miss the signup thread! Go ahead and put me down for the CatHouse draft.

I mean, I am finding player like 6'4'' below 190 but they should actually be below 170 - the saem as if they were 4 inches shorter. The steps make it very difficult to find dsomeone who qualifies, you basically need to find thin players measuring 6'9", 6'5'' or 6'0'' or just inch higher all others are done. For example Terry, as quite typical case, is 6'2'' and 176 not slender enough.

I've found some, the usual suspects but even they barely make it.

i have found 35 so far for this category. there are plenty.

guys 6'9" and over have to be 220 or less
guys 6'5" to 6'8" have to be 190 or less
guys 6'0" to 6'4" have to be 170 or less

sorry if my wording was confusing.

bball-ref has height and weight of each player listed on the roster page of each team. so you really only need to look at 30 pages to find everyone who is eligible. like i said, i went through all 30 pages today and found at least 35 players.

some examples - garrett temple is 6'6" but weighs less than 190, sebastian telfair is 6'0" but weight 165, alexis ajinca is 7'0" but weighs 220. all are eligible for "toothpick" category.

My bad, you are right. I hadn't done systematic research and just checked few players "randomly" and forgot about some others (some surprised me a lot). Funny thing is Jax is missing it by one inch (as much as say Jamario Moon).

Ok, we came to agreement who should we pick with first pick.

With first pick of Scavenger Hunt Draft 2011 we pick Dirk Nowitzki, Würzburg, Germany for Sharpshooter category.

It is win now, right? We just couldn't find a category so hard to fill to pass on him.

Just a question, how would I know if it's my turn to pick already? Or its alright to pick anytime as long as it's within the 8AM (today) - 1AM (tomorrow) time frame?

kinda tricky for your guys overseas, since you are sleeping during the day and up at night when we arent counting time against you. I'll try to be lenient as possible regarding people who might be sleeping when its there pick.

I will always update the title of the person on the clock. for example fred now has until 4PM EST to make his selection. Takuya can pick either immediately after fred picks, within 6 hours of fred picking or at 4:01PM if fred has not selected yet.

Ian you should keep refreshing this topic,if you are out for a long time, send a PM to someone else to pick for you,I always do this since I don't want to delay the game for 12 hours just because I am an Asian.

Hahaha. Seriously? Perhaps we have the same player in mind. :P

By the way, your name came from the Japanese actor, right?

this goes for anyone... if you are going to be away from the net for a while and you know you have a pick coming up, feel free to send me a list of guys to select (or to slam or to walt - who would be impartial). we can pick for you to keep the game moving. i'll try not to steal any picks ;)
