Clippers trade:
-The expiring contract of: Chris Kaman
-The expiring contract of: Mo Williams
The expiring contract of: Randy Foye
-Minnesota's 1st rd draft pick 2012

Nets trade:
-All Star point guard: Deron Williams(assuming he demands a trade)
-A terrible contract of: Travis Outlaw

Clippers recieve:
-A All-Star point guard: Deron Williams(assuming he agrees to sign extension)
-Taking on the contract of: Travis Outlaw(who could help with the lack of the 3 position)

Nets receive:
-Expiring contracts of:
Mo Williams, Randy Foye, and Chris Kaman
-Minnesota's 2012 1st round draft pick

In a New York minute. :) The Nets quickly hang up the phone though. Mo has a player option for 2012-13, so he's technically not an expiring. For all that the Nets gave up to get D-Will (Favors, Kanter, 2012 GSW 1st), accepting this trade proposal would be a very hard pill to swallow. If they could avoid Mo, and snag Howard and Paul without giving up Lopez, then they'd be set. That's a lot of ifs though.

I would love to have D-Will on the team with Griffin and Gordon, but I just think that a trade with the Nets would be tough to come by. Perhaps, if he's not given them any assurance that he would stay prior to the deadline, then maybe they take the best offer on the table. Their ace in the hole is that they'll have enough for 2 max players in 2012. They could totally risk it, wait it out, and then bring in Dwight to join D-Will in Free-Agency. The way that they handle the 2011-12 free-agency period will likely tip their hand in relation to heir future moves imo.

The one thing that would hold me back from doing this trade is that D. Williams is in a contract year. If he had maybe 3 or more years on contract, then yeah, I'd do this in a heartbeat. The reason that this would stop me is because 1. There's a possibility that we can attract him through free agency next summer and 2. If we did trade for him, there's the possibility that he leaves for somewhere else and we're stuck with Travis Outlaw and less assets than before.

You can't make a trade like this (giving up lotto picks/prospects) unless you get the extension first. Deron technically couldn't negotiate an extension until after July 18th, 2011. New Jersey took the risk knowing that they would take him on without a guarantee. If we were to trade for him, then the extension is definitely in play.

Aminu and Blesdoe would have to be thrown in for them to even consider. I doubt the Nets trade Dwill even then. But Dwill would help EJ out so much they would be if not the best one of the best back courts in the NBA.

Realistic would be: Kaman, Mo, Foye & EB, + Minny Pick plus a future considerationsfor DWill, Petro and Morrow. Then trade rookie Thompkins & a #2 for J Thompson from Sac. bring back Diogu and find a b/u PG like Watson/Telfair/Price. DWil, EJ, AFA, BG, DJ. EWat, Morrow, Gomes, Thompson/Diogu, Thompson/Petro. Moon, Leslie, Cook,

As long as Blake, Eric, and DeAndre stay, you can have whoever else you want on the roster, Minny 1st included.
