In those most recent edition of the "2011 Draft Blather"we've started to discuss (or re-discuss) Beal, Austin Rivers, Barnes, and Anthony Davis's indomitable uni-brow.

The thing even has it's own Facebook page!

At the end of the day, I have a real hard time imagining many of the guys on our roster except Wall being more valuable than any player we could select on draft day '12 so long as we have a top 8 or so pick, and the new CBA doesn't limit players moving to the NBA till after their second college season.

So what order do you rank players for the Wizards? I think the consenus top 11 for the Wizards would include, Andre Drummond (likely not available in 2012), Harrison Barnes, Anthony Davis, Jared Sullinger, James McAdoo, Quincy Miller, Perry Jones, Jeremy Lamb, Bradley Beal, Austin Rivers, Michael Gilchrist.
Of those picks:
Drummond isn't likely to be eligible.
Michael Gilchrist makes Singleton and or Vesely redundant, and isn't particularly skilled offensively.
Perry Jones is, IMHO, a less talented Vesely
Miller has his ACL concerns
Sullinger is likely to be very good, but generally considered unlikely to be a star.
Do you like any or all of those players' potential value better than McGee's? What about the rest of the guys on the list?
I think I like Drummond > Davis > Barnes > Beal > Sullinger > Lamb > Rivers = Gilchrist = McAdoo = Miller > Jones

I know this vid is from HS, but he shows way more skills than Vesely ever has.

Now I'm not saying Jones is some kind of can't miss prospect either. He has a questionable motor, isn't aggressive, soft, and is still pretty raw, but he's a better prospect than Vesely. I think he has Rudy Gay Lamarcus Aldridge-potential.

And even in a very disappointing frosh year where he showed no motor, he was arguably more productive than Vesely. By the time he's Vesely's age, he'll be much stronger than Vesely and much more capable of playing PF. My hunch is that Jones will show a lot of improvement this season - his going back to Baylor seems to indicate he wants to show he can be the power player Baylor's coaches seemingly want him to be. Vesely has the frame of an ectomorph, so I don't expect he'll ever have the physical ability and certainly doesn't have the skills to be a competent NBA PF. His only hope is at 3, imo. And skills are much more important at the 3 than being freakishly long and being able to dunk - which does not bode well for Vesely and the Wiz.

He wants guys that will play hard, practice hard, and work their asses off to be the best they can be. Jones strikes me as someone with a Blatche-like drive and on-the-court motor. That's a no-go for us.
Even if Jones is the best talent available on the board, I suspect EG would draft someone with a touch less upside, and better intangibles.

This is what I'm fearful of.

Nothing to fear. The Wizards will suck next season.

By all reports, Jones is a good kid, listens to his coach, and works hard in practice. He is just mousy on the court.
Maybe you guys are right. Maybe Jone's physical skills will eventually translate. I still have a hard time getting behind a prospect with such obviously immense physical talents, that didn't even experience success in high school, in terms of team performance, and personal performance.

Givony had a youtube interview with him where Jones bad-mouthed his HS coach and flat out blamed the coach for his under-achieving in HS and even for his lack of hustle. Having said that, it impresses me that he's going back to college and showing loyalty to the Baylor program.
