^The writeup doesn't mention, but my conversations with TMAC indicated that we were.

Or at least that is what I thought.

He'll be around to clear it up soon enough.

10-12 is ideal IMHO. 16 would be great but you know that its just not realistic.

besides you do realise that that there are alot fewer players in the early 70s than today. Only 23 NBA teams at the end of the 1st era. Im assuming we are useing ABA yrs???

So right now we've got:

TMAC
Bryant
Me
Kees
Sam Bone
Gremz
Miller
Warspite
Cellar
BlackIce

10 is a nice round number, and I'm always a fan of that. Not sure how it would be formatted with that number. Perhaps we'll get 2 more.

Finally back, plane delays, lost luggage, bunch of confusion and 10+ hour flights added with having to go watch the Harry Potter movie literally right after I landed (literally bought the tickets thinking I'd be back much sooner) - that I didn't have the time to even check the progress on this.

Anyways, I like 10, BUT Snake brings up the point about how we'd format a playoffs around that. We could POTENTIALLY just have eight teams make the playoffs, while the last two bottom feeder teams face off - then have the expansion for next season. 12 would seem more ideal - luke, you could learn some more, bball-reference.com is EVERYONE'S friend! And where's penbeast at!?

I'm probably going to crash for the night. If I can't get two more people, then I'll start this bad boy up around afternoon tomorrow.

Ok, I'll commit to the whole thing, if you can find another to round off the numbers

I definitely think that there should be a point system where making it a certain distance in each era tournament should be worth a certain number of points, with the most number of points through all 4 eras winning the entire thing.

Something like:

Reaching the final 4 (in other words passing the round robin round 1): 5 points
Reaching the final 2: 10 points
Winning an era: 18 points (I think winning it all should be worth more than reaching the finals and passing the round combined, but not by much).

Thoughts?

I like this. I was thinking of a point system earlier, but never got down to making one. And I like the example as well, simple, but effective. Maybe we could also get a point or two for defeating one of the teams in the robin round?

^That isn't a bad idea.

The exact point values are totally negotiable, I just threw them out as examples. Anybody else wanna weigh in?

I was able to contact luke, and said he would make his pick within a couple hours. I feel little hesitant to auto-pick, so if you are AFTER luke, please send in a list (PM/email) if you might not be there in that couple hours. Warspite has already done this, so if others could follow that lead; we can come back to all our second round picks.

Sorry about the delay in making my pick. I'm on UK time so it started when I was asleep, and I've been away this weekend also. Should be back paying full attention tonight onwards.

It's fine luke, we all know you're one of the more active and prompt posters on the board.

And we're going to roll with the point system.

2 points - beating one team from robin round.
6 points - advancing past the initial robin round.
10 points - getting to the finals.
17 points - winning an era.

Round robin, as in we all play each team? or are we in brackets of 3?
