Advertised unemployment is over 9% but real unemployment (once you add underemployed and other factors) is in the 17-20% range.

No team will fold. This is not the CBA or D-League. These teams are worth hundreds of millions (the Sixers just sold for $280m I think). These teams are, for lack of a better term, "too big to fail".

Scott Lauer, the team's radio guy, was let go as well.

Are these temporary or permanent layoffs?

I like that guy.

Guys the Lakers and Portland are laying off workers. What are the cats expected to do? And I would be surprise to see any player at Fred's event. Tahoe golf event is not hosted by anyone involve with the nba. So players and team employees can attend as long as they don't talk to eachother. Brian Grant who is an employee of the Blazers hoted a golf tournament. Players were not allowed to attend.

We've already laid off a few staff members unfortunately.

Check page 1 of this thread for the explanation to your question.

As for the economy and the future of the Bobcats ,unless something drastic happens and more people are hired into real jobs/careers (not Walmart Or MC Donalds), the Bobcats gate reciepts will continue downward. The Tea Party is the only party that is willing to SAY NO to all the BS going on screwing up our economy. If the debt ceiling is not raised then everybody will know what kind of economy we actually have now and yes NBA teams will fold. And the truth about what Ron Paul has been saying since 2008 will be out for all of us to see, including MJ
