Do you know whether Broussard has been positive about the pick all along?

At worst - An athletic Keith Bogans with PG ability

At best - Larry Hughes in his prime without attitude problems

The two players are almost alike in every aspect of the game. I think Larry Hughes is the best comparison we can make to Iman Shumpert.

I think a more athletic Joe Johnson.

Well it sounds like he impressed Chris Broussard and others at the camp which is nice to hear. I liked the pick from the start and I think he can be a steal at 17 especially if he gets a reliable jumper down and it sounds like it can improve and its not as bad as first reported. And while Mike gets crushed on a lot of aspects of his coaching skills him and his coaching staff are good at helping players work on their shooting touches and have done it in the past. They helped guys like Marion, Barbosa, and Diaw improve under them and have helped others like Mozgov who's jumper seemed to get better as the year went on.

Larry Hughes never had the kind of body Shumpert already has...and he'll only get even more muscled as he continues to mature. I really don't see any direct absolute comparison for this kid. He'll end up being a blend of multiple players.

A body similar to Dwyane Wade, the defensive versatility of Tony Allen, the form on his jumpshot, composure and paced play of Chauncey Billups, and transition scoring and explosive two-foot leaping ability of Russell Westbrook.

I see bits and pieces of all these guys in Shumperts game but he's not a xerox of any sole player. The key to maximizing his potential will be developing him as a point guard (much to the chagrin of the majority of you posters). What matters most is that team brass and the coaching staff views him as a pick and roll PG so I'll take their words over you mooks any day. If he shows an ability to handle the rock and consistently knock down open shots then he'll be a successful PG in the offense that we run. He already has three times over the vision and passng ability that Toney Douglas has. Maybe even more vision than Billups as well. Develop him as a PG and we'll have a very physically imposing advantage at the "1" position every night.

When will people get it through their heads that Shumpert will be an athletic SG here!
He will not be our PG!

How peculiar coming from the chick who is obsessed with tall PG's. I'd have figured you of all people would be rooting on his development as a PG, so I'm surprised by this defiant stance ending with dual exclamation points. But just to inform you, both D'Antoni and Walsh have been quoted as saying he will play PG and even push Billups off the ball some. So I'll take their word over yours.

The Larry Hughes comparison is accurate in regards to his inconsistent jumpshot and stature as a 6'5" combo guard. However, Hughes was never the athlete Shumpert currently is nor the manchild. Look at Shumpert's H U G E hands, muscular arms, broad chest/shoulders. This dude is physically imposing as a guard. Hughes was more lanky and long limbed like a Jamal Crawford in his prime. He didn't get those chubby chipmunk Cheeks till after he got older and started rocking the "Philly Muslim Beard" lol

May have been a reach, but years down the line the pick number will just be a footnote. Glad the Knicks front office went with who they liked the best. Shumpert is a pretty scrapper player and shows the Knicks are devoted towards this new, crazy concept of "defense".

Technically its Renaldo Balkman.

But if you want straight up Knick then yeah its TD, pretty sad.

Judging by the video clips, for a 42 inch leaper his dunks arnt that impressive. He looks like he barley gets up enough to jam it home sometimes. He should be dunking with EASE and little effort with a 42 in vert.

I dunno, something is suspect here i think. I just dont see that explosion that i see from Westbrook and Rose that his numbers indicate.

Would you have rather he said "the guy who is obsessed with tall PG's?" I don't think he meant to insult you using your sex.

Anyway, D'antoni was kind of left with no choice while Mozgov developed because Turiaf was hurt half the time and there were no other C's. When Mozgov figured out how to avoid foul trouble and help the team, Amare slid over immediately...and Mozgov starting at the beginning of the season shows that he wanted to play Amare at PF imho.
