Marreese Speights to be traded...hmmm

Post#1 » by CablexDeadpool » Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:40 pm

The 76ers are reportedly looking to trade big man Marreese Speights.
This is a one-liner in a Q&A blog by Ira Winderman, a beat writer for the Heat, so we're not reading too much into the report. Interestingly, he dismisses the idea of a trade for Speights by noting that "the Heat have practically no trade assets."

I like the guy, he can put up numbers in a hurry

we need a post guy... and he's pretty much Al Jefferson with a jumpshot

can shoot out to 20 feet with 45 percent efficency

can score on the block

runs the floor on the break

good free throw shooter

Give up Eddie House and Mike Miller for him...

Damn do we really don't have any trade assets...

:(

Do you remember him? This was the guy bricking open layups against Chris Bosh of all people in the first round.

Being from the Philly area and having lots of friends that are sixers fans, he has been widely viewed as a total bust bad attitude the whole 9 yards, Thats why philly wants rid of him

So?

He's 23, put up buckets in a quickness, one of the best jumpers in the league for a big man.

And that entire Sixer team was breaking shots for goodness sakes

If they wanna get rid of him so bad, give them one of our scrubs and we can stash him and maybe put him out there for about 13 mins and let him put up ten points or so

It's waaaaaay better than having Damp or Big Z out there. Not like it can get any worse.

I can see Pittman being just as effective as Speights. So, no, don't trade Miller for someone we already have to work with.

Seriously??!?!? You don't know how it could get worse? Why's he so annoyed in Philly? Because he can't get PT ahead of Spencer freaking Hawes. Here's the question though; why couldn't he beat out Hawes for minutes?

Come on man, it most assuredley can get worse...

And I'm not even saying Speights couldn't be good, but right now he's just a project with attitude issues. I'm hoping for a bit more.

Speights was good before he decided to not focus on conditioning. He is a few 5 dollar footlongs away from being Sean May.

Speights in shape would be a tremendous addition for us.

You have to ask yourself though; what got him there?

They don't play him because he gets confused on defense and he gets put in the doghouse. He was also injured his sophomore season and sat out a few games, put on the pounds.

If you not gonna play a big guy as big and stocky as he is, he gonna put on some pounds and be slightly out of shape, but you give him 15 to 20 mins a game, he gonna produce more than any big man in the league per minute, that's just how naturally good he is.

I'll still give up Eddie House and Mike Miller for him.

Here we wouldn't ask him to play KG style defense, we'll ask him to score and just be play good team defense, which I think he can.

He's a scoring PF who doesn't play much D. He'd be good for some spot minutes when we need some scoring in the frontcourt but that's it. We don't have the assets to get him either, so yeah.

He sucks, do not want. Even 76ers fans were frustrated with him. DO NOT WANT.

Even if he was confused on defense, he was infact bricking shots and making Chris Bosh look like Dwight Howard.

Already have Pittman to deal with who I am happy with personally. He's considered a rookie anyway, I highly doubt Riley will look into it.

Why would Philly want House and Miller?

The only way any team is taking on 4yrs/24 million of a a 31 yr old Mike Miller who's level of play fell off three seasons ago and who has been injured the last two unless we attach incentive (house is not an incentive) or we are taking back a bad contract.

I know MArreese well.

he is a good player and has skill... his problem has always been his conditioning and worth ethic to improve his conditioning. He just does not put in enough work. Offensively Defensively he is fine but doesnt do the things he needs to to get his conditioning right. Not sure he ever will at this point. I thought he was starting to turn it on in Philly but he faded. He will be a total bust and a bad investment if he doesnt change his attitude about hard work. If he does change his attitude he could be a starter in this league.

This guy can hardly even get backup minutes on the Sixers. Anybody going after this guy is Hoping for potential. At least he is a big man. But, he is much younger than the centers the Heat has now.
