NY Yanks @ Tampa Bay Rays: Road Warrior action

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:04 pm

The Yanks travel from Canada all the way to St. Pete's house where the Road Warriors from the Bronx take on the Rays in a VERY important series. To me, this is a great test to see how the bottom of the rotation can perform against a top team.

Yanks start off with the Ayatollah of Rock'n'Rolla, AJ Burnett then follow with Colon & Garcia both of whom are due for bounce back starts. Tampa counters with Cobb, Hellickson, and Price.

Can the Yanks take two out of three?

gritty come back win by the yanks.. the yankees speed is definately a factor now with guys like granderson, gardner and nunez.... rivera with a 8 pitch save and a tough catch by tex to end the game..

did you see that fan trying to knock the ball away? LOL

What a comeback win!

AJ was all over the place. The six walks more than the 8 hits bothered the crap out of me. The fact Tampa scored only 4 runs was a miracle.

Didn't realize Robertson had a lower ERA than Mo...

Now if Colon and Garcia can make me more comfortable that they haven't hit a wall.

Colon holding it through 6.0 and 7 Ks on three hits. Yanks can only muster 2 runs. Anyone know when Chavez is coming back if at all? Yeesh.

And yea, it's time to move Jeter down in the order. Gardner is too hot to ignore especially after 3,000 hits.

Logan blows. How do you bobble that ball? It should of been a clear DP to end the inning.

What a disaster in the bottom of the 7th. From Granderson losing the ball, Boone Logan's misplay on the chopper back to the mound, and then Granderson's slide leading to the Rays taking the lead. *face palms*

Can anyone get some offense on the damn Yanks?

Well he's better than Mitre. That isn't saying much though.

tough loss on a very winable game... we need some offensive pop and another arm in the pen. logan is trash.. with boston losing tonight, this game hurts.. we could have cut the lead to half a game..

Yea, I don't understand with A-Rod's injury why Cashman can't call up Montero to boost his ailing stock. I mean, even if you don't enter a trade, the whole purpose is to make your chips more attractive. He did the same crap with Ian Kennedy. Kept him around too long and he turned out to be awful and wanted no part of NYC.

Speaking of ex-Yanks, Jeff Karstens involved in the Marte trade (check me on that) is 8-4 with the pirates. Now, he would not be a starter on the Yanks but damn I would have liked him as a long reliever. Right now the pen is in shambles.

Of course but it's a perfect example of how Cashman holds onto his prospects until he realizes he can't get much from them...and then will unload for a reliever. This is the problem presently with Montero, if he doesn't figure out a way to boost his value then it will take the entire farm for Ted Lilly or some crap like that.

Garcia put on a splendid performance. Boone Logan restored some of his embarrassment. David Robertson is proving himself to be a true set up man. Curtis Granderson is really the only big bat in the Offense.

No doubt but I like pitching performances where your best stuff isn't there but you battle and find a way to get the outs. I still maintain it should be Nova in the 5th spot but Freddy is giving the Yanks innings and that's all you can ask.

I am almost of the opinion to go to 6 man rotation in September to give CC some rest, remember how mortal he looked against Texas?

Speaking of Mr. Money in the bank, he takes the mound. Let's go Yanks send a message by taking 3/4.
