Mugzi is right, I stand with him.

Its not that the theology is bad for all, but we can't ignore that the majority of radicalism throughout the world is coming from Islam....IMO the religion needs sweeping reform.

Spillover from a locked thread that will probably get some mod attention here very soon with warnings, or get the politcal thread locked too.

Funkatron

Ive read the bible many times and I think its the greatest book ever written. It has something for everyone, murder, deceit, betrayal, redemption, love, vengeance, etc etc.

I identify myself as a Christian. I dont attend church, Ive been in different churches and Ive seen alot of things I dont agree with. Thats not to say I wont ever go back to church but I dont feel I need a church to give me a relationship with God.

At the end of the day this is what faith is, faith.

One thing history has taught me is regardless of the source, much of it is still conjecture.

I mean who is Napolean to me? Or Jesus or anyone that was written about in a book?
Just someone who existed at one time or may not have existed. We weren't there. We dont have video or picture evidence.

Science has made many advances but still cant answer many things. How can anyone with any kind of certainty say the universe or this planet is 6 billion years old or more? How do you even quantify that? Really? Its ridiculous. Im not saying this was all created 6000 years ago either, but there are questions that we may never have the answers to.

So at the end of the day, what brings me peace is believing that Im a member of a human family that's inherently flawed and sins by nature and is in need of redemption in the eyes of a Holy sinless God. And if Jesus is who he says he is, than that redemption exists through him.

Apology in advance to the mods. You won't hear anymore out of me. This kid has my email, so if he chooses to play with fire, let him get burned. Later.

So I guess what I am taking from your reply is that you follow the bible, but not necessarily the literal interpretation of the bible? Am I right to assume that?

Ive already moved on, but Im not kidding. Never was and when he gets an email 5 months from today as a reminder we'll see who was really about it.

I have no problem sticking to the topic of politics, but we can't do that if CGC posts gifs in here and to bait because he has no intelligence or awareness of real life issues or the aptitude to debate them.

Its nice to talk polictics when there is an open mind on each side. Anytime anyone says something you don't agree with, you post 7 pages from some unknown conservative blog. Your self righteous attitude is also unwarranted. I'm just trying to get to know where this belief and attitude come from? Did you attend a University? What is it you do that you can state absolutes with no concrete facts?

I dont think anyone regardless of faith can follow the literal interpretation of any of their holy texts.

Most people imo are Christians or claim to be as fire insurance. They have either lived a pretty amoral life and figure that believing in Jesus will spare them in the end, and if he isn't real than no harm no foul.

I'm not a sheep. Never have been or will be. I'm an independent thinker, I grew up to be and Ive always lead and never followed.

So when I spend hours racking my brain as to the origins of the universe which is enough to make a man insane, or I think about in relation to the known universe, the ingredients of life, the similarities and differences between species, etc etc

I think of one thing and one thing only.

Nothing comes from nothing. Even an atom came from somewhere. Energy, gravity, galaxies.

So yes its easy to look at the bible as a whole and say well, no sane person could believe that the earth was flooded and a guy built a giant boat and filled it up with all the worlds creatures to survive the deluge. Or that in the last days multiheaded beasts/dragons rise up to conclude the battle between good and evil.

But what I do see throughout the bible is life lessons. Universal truths about honor, respect, a code of ethics, morality, love, compassion, and a path and a chance to exist for something greater than oneself.

And regardless of stories and events that may or may not have happened, that in and of itself speaks to a nobility that resonates with me.

So I choose to believe that Jesus existed and died for the sins of mankind.

All I can do is live my life, do right by my family, friends and those I do business with and hope that if the afterlife exists and heaven is real that I'll be allowed in.

And at the end of the day Im sure most people want the same thing, they just may have a different opinion on what heaven is or how to get there.
Trust but verify.

Oh and you and Wingo and most of the others on your side are open minded?

For someone who thinks he knows so much about me you haven't done your homework. I attended a very liberal university UCLA and graduated with a BA in History.

So my righteous indignation comes from studying history, knowing facts and having to correct people like you who have no semblance of history or the history of the moment known as politics.

And don't lecture me about facts. Everything I post is true and can easily be verified with a few minutes of research. I cite sources. Dont hate because you dont like the politics of the sources I cite.

Why should I trust your sources? What makes them credible? They are part of a media machine that is 100% in the pocket of the left wing and they slant news, coverage and stories to punish their enemies and shelter their friends.

Who said I was a liberal?

Few more questions, so I can, you know do my homework. What is it you specifically do for a living? Are you old, young, middle age?

Its not about the validity of the Koran...I, as a Christian do not believe in Koran, and I believe Mohammad is a false prophet, but that's not the point.

The bible, also has undesirables in it's texts, like stoning, but Christianity has evolved beyond the crusades.

The problem is the culture of Islam, not with their holy book itself...In other words the interpretation, which is why the religion needs a universally accepted interpretation that does not reinforce the behavior we are seeing in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, The Philippians, Sudan, The West Bank Gaza, Egypt,Etc....................................................................................................................................
