Just wondering. Did he get walked all over by the Vets? Did he have a terrible offensive scheme? Did he let his teams run?
Thanks!

Re: Did you guys hate Frank?
I was never a fan, I helped lead the Fire Frank movement.
I always thought he would make an excellent big program Division I college coach ironically, cause he isn't a huge fan of developing young guys, although some of that reputation is unfair.
He's a player coach, loves his vets and I was joking on another site that it's safe to say Rip is off the market now and Prince will be resigned.
He'll turn Stuckey into the MIP next year and therefore you guys will overrate the hell out of Stuckey and think he's a top point, but really it's just Frank adjusting his system to the little talent he has to maximize it.
I would say hello to the late lotto, like 35 win pick 11 through 14 territory.
His in game adjustments and substitutions are maddening at times and although he likes ball movement he inexplicably falls in love with iso's way too much.
Good defensive coach.
Give it 12 games and you'll be lowering the TV so you don't hear his incessant clapping and yelling from the sidelines.
To me he's a treadmill coach, a good X's and O's guy, can't switch gears during a game to save his life and is ultra predictable.
He'll go to war for his players though and is a pretty crude and awesome personality, he should fit in well in Detroit, he did here.

Re: Did you guys hate Frank?
im a young fan so Frank was the Coach when i started to trully follow and love the My Nets. so i might just be biased for him. But i always loved Frank. hes a great personality, he seems to keep the locker room atmosphere good with his nicknames and stuff. hes a great defensive coach. u can tell he really cares about every game. u should see him on the sidelines always fully engaged. the only thing i didnt like about Frank was the fact that he didnt play the rookies. EVER. always stuck to the Vets for sure.
Playoffs this year, Championship in 5 years.

Thanks for the indepth responses guys. Hopefully Rip is traded and Prince walks so playing Vets will be impossible. Will be interesting to see Frank work with Brandon Knight.

Re: Did you guys hate Frank?
Fact is Frank did what he could with the talent he had when he was here. The Kidd, VC and RJ triumverate was a 2nd round and out team.
The group of rejects and castoffs he had at the end of his tenure was one of the worst collections of talent in the history of the league.
He is a fine coach. Unfortunately a good coach in the NBA means zero. Talent wins. And right now in Detroit, with only one real solid building block (Greg Monroe) and a so-so cap situation, Frank will be unjustly run out of town within two years, just like he was unjustly fired when he was here. Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, Pat Riley, Lenny Wilkens and Vince Lombardi as a collective unit could not have gotten 30-35 wins out of Lawrence Franks last Net squad.

^^I'd rather see those 5 coaches suit up than watch that horrible roster.Rod should've made KiKI suit up and play for that mess.

Re: Did you guys hate Frank?
So I understand those guys are basically all HOF coaches, but that isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the Opester.

The team eventually tuned him out. But that's the case with most coaches, and he was here for a very long time, compared to most NBA coaches. And I don't think the Nets played worse than talent. There just wasn't much talent. The only player I remember who left the to do better elsewhere was Mutumbo.

He's a smart guy, he knows what he's doing. Don't worry, I think the Pistons are getting exactly what they need in Frank, a fresh start. I think he's upped his coaching especially after being around the Celtics for a year as an assistant.

I don't hate anyone. I always thought Lawrence was better suited for the college game. His teams had some talent, but for some reason they could never put it together. Hopefully, the Pistons and him do well together. I wish him the best.

OKC Thunder fan, too.

He's a player's coach; however, the effectiveness of his style is dependent on the players surrounding him. I wish him well with the Pistons...
