If Hawks Core Fail agains?

Post#1 » by Ruhiel » Fri Jul 22, 2011 5:53 am

rebuilding? mid season trade?

With our inability to move all our contracts
I think its pretty clear we'll never compete with Miami and Chicago if we rebuild. IMO

oh come on "fail", what an over reaction. their are 30 teams in the NBA and only one team each year wins the championship.

Really I think the Hawks should have reached the ECF by now with there current team. Teague will help but losing Crawford is going to hurt.

I don't think they have completly failed but underachieved is probably a better word.

If you rebuild there is a small chance you actually build a solid team...and an even smaller chance your team is a title contender.

We will probably end up losing Josh Smith anyway(Which most would prefer through a trade as of right now), so our core will be broken up sooner rather than later, but yeah, to just come out and say "fail" is a very big over reaction.

Like buckeye12 said, there is 30 teams in the league and only one champ. Some of the best players never even won a title, but that doesn't mean teams just gave up on them, unless their window was gone.

Josh and Al respectively are 25 years of age. Joe isn't exactly a spring chicken, but is damn near impossible to trade as of now, so we might as well die with those 3 till Joe deteriorates. Then we can send Josh or Al out.

Well given a full season it would most definitely have to be a supreme failure for a core member to be traded midseason. It's more likely If we have a lackluster finish and playoffs then:

Hinrich will expire and disappear into the ether,

Josh will now be an expiring deal himself in the last year of his contract and most likely moved with Marvin.......

Horf's BYC will be up but he has enough media equity and length of contract that he'll be tied to the unmovable Joe....

Can't really have a 31 year old making 20 mil surrounded by rookies and young guys only so Al and him will be the "old timers" on the roster......

until about 2014 when there will be fear of retaining Al past the end of his contract so he's shipped off for max value well before it even becomes a problem......

2015, Joe finally becomes an expiring and he's punted off to acquire some bit players to surround the young guys him and Al "trained".....

Thus the Hawk's first championship core is built in Atlanta.....

Tomorrow's Powerball numbers are 14 25 28 36 40 Powerball 1.....

You are welcome.

How many teams had our roster? Orlando knows they failed. Minnesota knows they failed. Houston knows they failed with Yao. Los Angeles knows they failed. Come on Rick Sund fail is fail

Fail is fail.

@macecase at least you tried to be honest.

Just cant believe Hawks are wasting Josh just like Suns with Marion.

The Hawks have shown the inability to improve on there core. They should try to do so before dismantling the core.

True Core

Josh Smith
Al Horford
Joe Johnson

Possible Addition if he is giving the chance to start and proves he is a starting level PG

Jeff Teague

Everybody else should be moved without hesitation to make the team and the core better. The Hawks have never understand or really defined who there core is. That is the biggest problem. Jamal's expiring should have been moved for something if nothing but a draft pick. The Bulls turned Kirk Hinrich's perceived value into a 1st round pick. The Wizards turned it into 2 1st round picks and shed salary. The Hawk's have his perceived value plus he is an expiring this time. They should be able to get a lot for Hinrich. Watch Sund labels him as part of the core instead of doing the smart thing and getting everything you can for his perceived value and contract.
