OT: Drew League

Post#1 » by HINrichPolice » Tue Jul 12, 2011 4:41 am

Hey all,

I'll be visiting LA and was wondering how someone goes about attending Drew League games. Rumor is that Derrick Rose might participate. Any info would be appreciated!

The games are free, only draw back is the size of the gym......way too small. But a few NBA players have dropped in from time to time. Durant already played and James Harden is a regular now, score 52 points a few weeks back.

Big article about the Game. The league is blowing up and will get a bigger venue soon. I don't like that area.

When I read the topic title, I thought Andrew Bynum created his own league due to the lock out.

Rapper "Game" be cheating.

His Squad is GO HAM .

First 3 games of the season he had Demar Derozan, Shannon Brown, Mike Beasely, RON ARTEST and KEVIN DURANT running on his squad. LMAO!

That Derrick Rose rumor is all generated by Game as well.
He's been reaching out to D. Rose's Peeps to get him to come down to the hood.

Like D3CL said above it's free and arrive early because its get crowded with not too many seats.
As for it being the Florence Graham area( North side of Compton) it's a friendly area especially during game times which is during the day . Never at night.

Don't be scurred people this ain't a movie.
They got Costco , Walmart and Starbucks in the hood as well. LMAO

I'm sure most of you know about this but just in case....
On August 20, contracts, money, and even a possible lockout all take a backseat to respect, representing your city, and bragging rights.

Some of the best basketball players in the world are headed to D.C. to be part of the Capital Punishment Summer League all-star game. The game, which apparently will be played at Calvin Coolidge High School, will pit players from D.C.'s legendary Goodman League against players from Los Angeles' famed Drew League.

So who are the stars? The Goodman League boasts the likes of Kevin Durant, John Wall, Tywon Lawson, Gary Neal, Tyreke Evans, Michael Beasley, Demarcus Cousins, Josh Selby, Sam Young, Donte Green, Baby "Shaq" Jones, Emanuel "Duce" Jones and Warren "D-Nice" Jefferson.

The Drew League, on the other hand, includes the likes of James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Nick Young, Dorell Wright, Brandon Jennings, JaVale McGee, Craig Smith, Pooh Jeter, Bobby Brown, Marcus Williams, and three other players to be announced.

The Basketball Channel, which is apparently coordinating the event, said the game was moved from Georgetown's McDonough Gymnasium to Coolidge because of "overwhelming response."

Tickets are available at the Downtown Locker Room and Inside The Gates at Barry Farms during upcoming league games.

Let the trash talking begin. This game is not about the money. It’s not about a contract. And it sure ain’t about a lockout. It’s about pride. It’s about respect. It’s about repping your city. And it’s about bragging rights. Reputations will be made, and reputations will be lost. The countdown to CAPITAL PUNISHMENT has begun. Call it what you want, but it all goes down Saturday night, August 20th, 2011, at 6:30pm....This game will be historic. Don’t miss any of the action as the best basketball players from Los Angeles’ famed Drew League face off against the best basketball players from Washington D.C.’s legendary Goodman League. Summer bragging rights are on the line as The Basketball Channel presents the ultimate pro-am summer league showdown, CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

And so LeBron makes his way to the Drew League on Saturday thanks to Baron Davis, they said the gym was pack.....as usual and they went wild for LeBron.

Guess who will find out about this when he gets back in town ?

I've seen highlights and man, Steve Blake looked like he was having a rough time. Can anyone confirm this? Looked almost out of place.
