official trade deadline thread

Post#1 » by Pharmcat » Tue Jul 26, 2011 4:47 pm

a thread to keep all relevant talk in here

i for one support zero trades, as yanks should punt this year

1) the O is less than Bos and Tex
2) the SP is less than Bos and Tex

so how are you gonna beat them? I dont see it

punt it, and save montero, betances, banelous and let them become part of the next core

With CC about to opt out, I think the Yanks need to secure a second #1 starter no matter the cost because the #2 option is AJ Burnett, Philip Hughes, Bartolo Colon...

Yes the offense sucks but at what is available, there is only pitching that can be had.

F*cuk that Fat a$$ Zambrano. He's a hot head and too much of a bi%chy premadonna. Not only does he start throwing at guys when he doesn't get the calls. He's put on a show acting like he's the clubhouse leader when he's not.

He belongs on an Omar Minaya team...y'know the clowns that suddenly pretend not to understand English after a Mets loss and the NY Press breathes down his throat.

I wouldn't mind Danks but we know the last time we got a pitcher from Chicago, Esteban Loaiza.

Seattle keeps saying they won't deal...we'll see. After the embarrassing performance by Hughes, Jimenez looks more and more enticing. Because right now the Yanks have NO #2 or #3.

would u guys do montero, nova and betances for ubaldo?

as far as Im concerned, nova is just a replaceable part considering this team has warren and phelps in the minors

montero is going for any top pitcher

putting betances in hurts, which is compounded by the fact brackman is a bust

its tough package, but one I think i would make

Yea, there's no way to cut it easy...bottom line is the Yanks need front line pitching BADLY behind Sabbathia who is going to RAPE the Yankee front office for every dime. Boston's filthy explosive line up is here to stay, they erased that miserable start...and show no signs of slowing down to bash their way to the World Series.

I don't know how Cashman can say, "Well....maybe when King Felix is FA or that pitcher..." cause Cliff Lee already humiliated the front office by throwing the money back in young money Steinbrenner's face. New York teams and their fans have to realize...this is NO longer the era where players crave the big top. The game has changed to the point where a NY franchise has to overpay to beg a star to come (see NY Knicks).

As for Kuroda, I can't see this guy as a starter. Maybe a 7th inning guy...

Don't think Cash (talk about a misnomer) is bluffing. Bean counter Hal Steinbrenner and Cash want to turn the Yankees into a "Monetary responsible" franchise. In other words, let me over charge the fans and slurge every 3-4 seasons for a big name (or not in the case of Cliff Lee).

BTW that was a funny article especially CAshman pushing Philip Hughes as the deciding factor. Hey Brian, Hughes hasn't been the same since his back to back atrocious outings against Texas. Sure, the Yanks should have scored more runs but let's admit it the starting pitching didn't show up.

Secondly, saying some B.S. that "it's hard to add to a championship calibur team.." No they're NOT. The Giants, Phillies, Red Sox are better. The Yanks state of starting pitching puts us on par with Texas and the Tigers.

I love how Brian feels comfortable if the Yanks lose. I get it, you want to FORCE Posada, Jeter, etc to retire...but AJ Burnett's contract is on Brian. He's equally guilty of dumb decisions.

there are twitter rumors about phillies and astros for pence, astros want pitching, hence PHI and NY trade betances for dominic brown, and then PHI would use him to ship for pence

anyone have thoughts on this?

Id much rather use betances in a deal for ubaldo

Exactly my thoughts. Jimenez has had 1 dominant year, he's been mediocre every other year. He isn't worth the top 3 prospects in a very good farm system.
