Not exactly. Less than 1% of basketball players ever make it to the NBA. Thus, any draft pick has a 1% chance of making it in the NBA. This is a fact also, just not a useful one in examining the potential outcomes here.

So we know Young, McGee and Wall are busy taking part in different basketball games around the country.

What is Party Dray doing to stay in shape?

He said on Twitter that he's training in Miami right now. Just because you don't see him doing it doesn't mean he's not.

On average, only three draft picks have a chance of making it in any given five year period? I think that's a pretty useful fact here.

Wow, can't believe I missed this gem.

Would you care to revise and extend your remarks here?

Particularly the part about 1% of draft picks making it in the NBA?

This "fact" is definitely not a useful one.

I actually wonder whether Wall's and McGee's method of flying around the country and playing glorified pickup games is all that effective at developing their skills. My gut feeling is that they'd be better off staying put in one location and following a structured regimen like that at Tim Grover's camp or Attack Athletics or something like that.

I think he's saying that 1% of all basketball players (presumably college, international prospects, etc) have a chance at making it in the League. Therefore, anyone drafted at one time was a 1 in 100 shot to make it to the League. I don't at all understand the point, but I think this is what he was saying.

I get it now. It was to Zonkerbl's original point, observing that some data (Including any contradictory information) might not be useful in a given situation.

Right. All players who have made it to the NBA are already a statistical exception.

Is Andray Blatche an exception in terms of height and god-given basketball ability? Yes. The number of players at that size with that skill set can be counted on 1 hand.

So while I have great respect for statistical studies and think they are very useful, I also think it's worth using some subjective analysis and noting that Blatche has a different learning curve than most NBA players (who do not have the same amount of god-given talent to harness). Thus, I believe that in a league full of statistical exceptions, Blatche is an exception among exceptions. Clearly, Ernie Grunfeld agrees.

Did something new happen that I missed. Because if not, I think most reasonable people would agree Dray gets another year. Wel will now more then, not before.

Dray trying to organize a players-only workout in D.C. with the other Wizards.

In the meantime, Blatche says he's been working out in Miami and South Carolina and is organizing an unofficial team practice to be held in D.C. Asked if he might follow the lead of some of his NBA counterparts and play overseas if the lockout drags on, he says he has not yet thought about it.

Shows that he's committed, unlike many of you think. He's putting in the work, and I think he'll prove many of you guys wrong.

Blatche organizing a team "practice" is an encouraging sign. I hope he keeps it up.

I was just scanning for Dray news.

Here is a link about what you posted.

So anyone ever emailed or contact Dray in any way. It would be nice to be able to send him some support. I mean if the dude can just use this time to do to his body what Nick and McGee did last year, he would be a lot more effective and it would give him a chance to reach his potential. It is all right there for him. Dray in a buff body would be trouble for the league.

He's probably just trying to organize one of those stripper pole workouts that are becoming all the rage.

^ was also my first thought

very encouraging news though. im definitely leaning more towards 'wait and see' than 'trade for anything' at the present moment.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

someone should tweet him and tell him to make it an open practice. then we can all go to a wizboard happy hour, and then to the practice for some good-natured heckling.

More on Blatche's off season workouts and leadership from Mike Lee.

Say what you want about Blatche, but I'm glad he's doing this. I hope that once this Impact Basketball thing ends all the guys that are not going overseas can get together and gel.

Meh, I heard the same sort of stuff before...7 day dray etc. I still don't think he will amount to much. He knows what to say...just don't think he has the heart and work ethic to carry it out. Only time will tell though.
