EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The most accurate place-kicker in the NFL over the past two seasons will be back with the Minnesota Vikings, perhaps for the rest of his career.
Ryan Longwell confirmed in a text message early Wednesday evening he has agreed to terms on a contract ESPN reported is worth $12 million over four years with $3.5 million guaranteed.
"I would love to finish as a Viking," said Longwell, who turns 37 next month, "but I'm not looking at the end yet!!"
That's an upgrade over the contract Longwell signed to join the Vikings in March 2006, when he received a $3 million signing bonus on a five-year, $10 million pact.
Longwell has made 43 of 46 field-goal attempts (93.5%) over the past two seasons. He said he received interest on the open market but "always wanted to come back so the other teams were really not a factor."
