So this is the future. Id rather Kobe be the focus of the team until he's 50 than Bynum

Good thing Bynum was healthy enough to get us out of the firt round, or this thread would turn ugly.

I've come to realize that maybe we're dealing with a lot of crushed dreams here and given the mean age of posters on the board, I'm willing to bet this the first failure of a potential franchise player most have experienced.

We're dealing with an age gap, IMO. Most of us were probably too young to remember Magic, and perhaps even Shaq/Kobe years....

When you have Tex Winter saying pretty early on that Bynum could be one of the greats, it raises some expectations. And I guess this thread is what happens when those types of expectations die out...kind of feels like someone let out Santa's secret in here over the past two seasons.

Thing is crazy eights it hasnt died out yet. I just want the kid to stay healthy for 4-5 seasons so we can really see what he's made of. If he cant stay healthy then all the nay sayers were correct.

I wasn't talking about Bynum's potential dying out so much as the hopes of him becoming the fanchise guy. I think it would take 2 or 3 completely healthy seasons for some people to even trust his potential to carry the load anymore.

Yeah, that's without a doubt. I would like to see him stay completely healthy so we can see what we're really working with.

true. and to be that guy in 2-3 years, he shouldn't be in Kobe's shadow anymore but I doubt this happens while Kobe is around since Kobe will play as long as he can move even one finger.
