Circumstances may have been as such, it just depends on what you expect out of him off the bench and it also depends on what kind of minutes he gets, my argument is more about a 26-28 mpg Marcus Thornton vs. a 36-40 mpg Marcus Thornton. Also a Thornton who isn't the primary option at that position for whatever reason where their minutes are subject to other factors besides their own individual play. A bench player that plays 33+ minutes a game is a freaking starter disguised as a bench player, hahaha.

Yup. That's what I've suggested all along.

He's not a King until he signs a new contract. I am not sure what his value is, but I am sure there will be other teams trying to sign him. We have the cap room, but the broke Maloofs will only pay so much. Lets hope no one offers him a crazy deal that the Maloofs won't match. How much per is he worth?

In my mind with the current cba he is worth up to 9 million per season. I would like to pay less but with the current structure that seems fair to me.

That may not be too far from the truth at the moment. He really did carry this team once he arrived here. One man demolition crew.

I think Cousins is your best player if not now then moving forward. He will be your franchise player
LeBron James is the best player in the NBA.

Oh, no question about that, Thornton is just farther along in his development as a player. I think he's pretty close to his personal ceiling. If Cousins reaches his he should be a multiple time All-star and one of the better players in all of the league. The question is whether or not he'll get there though. It's all up to him.

I think they'll go with experience and certainly not go after a restricted free agent. That could potentially cost them the guy they need. I think J-Rich or J.R. Smith will be their target.

Marcus Thornton is a really bad pick and roll defender. I've been studying how the Kings guard the pick and roll today, and I've noticed that opposing teams love to put Thornton in pick and rolls. He has no idea what to do. Either that or Westphal's pick and roll defense philosophy is bad.

He doesn't even ice on sideline pick and rolls. Beyond pick and roll defense, he never shades players to their weak hand or the left just to make it simpler. He always lets players get to the middle of the floor. He always forgets about his defensive assignment if he goes to give help somewhere, which means he's never boxing out. Not that he's the only player on the Kings with these problems.

Well obviously pick and roll defense relies on team work more than anything and that just wasn't there all year. I think the Kings last year were one of the worst pick and roll teams on both sides of the ball I've ever seen.

No doubt, is the kid our best player at the time. MT won us our last games. IMO. We would be foolish to let him walk or to trade him. Bash me or not, I really love the Evans/Thornton combo. Reke can drive to the basket and kick it out for the sure kncokdown of a three. Weather that being MT or John Salmons. I'm really high on the kid.

And anyone having Jimmer start over Thornton is probly the Magoofs.

To be honest, I wasn't surprised of how good Thornton was last year. That's because I knew what he was capable of that type of offensive explosion. I followed Thornton (rookie year) via fantasy basketball (he was on my team), and he was putting up BIG numbers on a consistent basis. I kept tabs on him since.

Once he was traded to the Kings, I was elated!

I like the makeup of our team. We just need the team to grow and trust each other. Hopefully we can get some communication on the defensive side to help pick and roll defense.

I guess Bobby Jackson, Jason Terry, Manu Gibobili, Jamal Crawford, Vinnie Johnson, AC Greene, Danny Ainge, are all disrespected players then... It doesn't matter who starts, it matters who gets the minutes and ends the game. i can't see Thornton getting anything less than 28 MPG(probably closer to 32-36 a night) while finishing most games if he were to come off the bench.
