With no one lookin@ Jamal will he sign with ATL at a bargain

With no team interested in Crawford, besides Orlando and Chicago, will Jamal end up resigning with the Hawks at a reasonable price?

Orlando is not looking at adding Crawford to Jameer Nelson and JJ Redick.
Chicago has other options than Jamal.

"The Hawks already have $63 mil locked up in only 6 players without Crawford. The old CBA kept most teams from going over the lux, and the new one looks to be far more punishing.

Moreover, it's not like Crawford was spiking attendance/revenues. The successful Hawks were only 22nd in average attendance.

I personally think the guaranteed contracts and low revenue streams will handcuff any potential owner. However, even if the Hawks found someone who is so rich he'd ignore the finances, I think he'd make changes to put his own stamp on a team, and ones that would be more popular with local fans."

Teams aren't looking at anyone considering that there's a lockout that bars them from doing so.

no, alot of team, even with the lock out, have expressed interest in guys like JRich, JR Smith, Nene, Dalembert, Prince. but Crawford's name hasn't come up, i've only heard of Chicago and Orlando expressing interest in Crawford if JRich leaves Orlando.

basically, no lottery team would want Crawford.

NY wouldn't want to invest in JC because they are clearing up cap for Deron. LA, MIA, CHI, SAS, and ORL don't have the cap. Dallas already has Terry. BOS is more interested in resigning Ray Allen. OKC has Harden. MEM is too focused on resigning Randolph and Gasol. Hornets and Bucks could use Crawford, but they are not expressing any interest in him, unlike the Bulls and Magic.

New Jersey concerns me.

I expect them to pursue a power forward, but they may pursue Jamal Crawford, and overpay him. We need to look at our options and not look at Jamal Crawford as a priority.

NJ already has Morrow. bad teams usually aren't interested overpaying 6th men.

No owner or team can talk to or about players during the lockout so if you heard x team is interested in y player then it was most likely some reporter or fan talking out his ass because Stern was pretty clear about that with his threat of a million dollar fine for any violations. Between the fact that they are barred from doing so I even further doubt that GMs are already deciding what free agents they want to pursue when they don't even know how the salary cap will be structured.

MIA and ORL (if JRich does not resign) seems like destinations of choice for JC1...

ATL should try to trade Marvin for Thornton in SAC and replace JC1. SAC does not have a starting SF and has cap space to swallow Marvin's salary for a few years, before it becomes a good trading asset IF he does not pan out for them.

I can't see Sacramento doing that deal. Thornton averaged 21 ppg in 27 games for Sacramento, so his value is quite higher...higher than a bad contract in Marvin who doesn't produce nearly as much.

Yet they threw in an "old Salmons" that they might play at F. ATL might have to add a first or 2 second...

maybe, but i thought that Indy was high up on Paul George, and that they would rather spend their cap on a PF rather than a 6th man.

Indiana has enough money for everything I believe with something like barely only 30mil on the books and their wing depth is Granger, George and George Hill who can flex at the 2. They did want OJ Mayo at the deadline so no reason to think that they wouldn't want a proven 6th man to add over their bench dregs of Rush, "Born Ready" and Dahntay Jones. They are a threat especially now that they've had a taste of the playoffs, they are more than likely to want to supplement their young core with proven vets.

If the cap and rules are anywhere in the same vicinity as the last CBA they could nearly max offer Nene and still be able to offer Jamal a little above the MLE which would potentially outbid any other hypothetical suitors. Payday and playoff team rolled in one.
