Interesting that RGM gave the Phillies a C+ for the trade, and the Astros an A-. The Phillies did give up a lot, but I expect Pence to want to stay with Philly a long time as they will be competitive for the next few years.

C+? what a joke!

Philly is probably the favorite to win the world series now.

#Braves are working hard on a trade for outfield help, but "still no dance partners,'' said a source. #trades

I'm off the Bouirn bandwagon. I have not decided I want either Kemp or Ellsbury. We've dealt with Boston so they like us, right? We can send them Monor and whomever and take Ellsbury off their hands.

Yes. Being cynical at this point. Why not shoot for the stars? All we can do is be told "No".

The Braves would have included Mike Minor in a deal for Pence, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney (on Twitter).

Houston is hating on us, they will not trade with us and I am not that big of a fan of Bourn anyway. I do think we need a CF but none of the guys rumored to be available are worth giving up anything worth mentioning. I am not a fan of Minor but I would not give him up unless I got exactly what I wanted.

Minor, Schafer, Betancourt, Hoover, second tier OF prospect and cash for Kemp

Or

Minor, Schafer, Betancourt for Adam Jones

Or

Go with what we got be happy with a wild card 1st round exit

I'm seeing all these deals go down, and then hear no one will deal with Atlanta on what we want or can offer. Why? I'm starting to think it is Wren maybe overvaluing the prospects rather than other teams being difficult with whom to deal. If everyone else is making deals, no reason in the world Wren cant, other than he is not being reasonable.

The other team not making any moves yet whom you know wants to - the Yankees. Wonder if Wren and Cashman are talking? Kinda scares me a bit about Wren matching wits with Cashman.

I'm starting to think the Astros just don't like us.

Just read that Adam Jones is not available that means someone inquired and that's good to hear. I seriously doubt if Kemp is available but I would like to atleast here that someone inquired.

I would refuse also. I would not put either in a trade for Bourn.

The Braves just completed a trade for Michael Bourne. It's said we gave up 4 minor leaguers. Wren better not have given up one of the Big 4 for him.

I'm OK if Minor went in the deal.

Wow! Schaffer and none of the big 4. Good job Wren.

Bourn is better than Schaffer or McLouth, but he does not qualify as a "big bat". But getting on base for Chipper, Mac, and Uggla will help.

I'm okay with this deal.I don't think it helps us climb the ladder but it will help us maintain and it will be good for the clubhouse to have a sparkplug. Bourn has actually been suspended before for showing emotion we dont have a guy like that. :D He reminds of Nigel Morgan. :o

Return to Atlanta Braves
