I didn't really care for either of their opinions on the matter. They both have shortsighted and rudimentary outlooks on analyzing that question. There's a reason why Herm Edwards is an ex-NFL coach, that's because he has a crazy mind that doesn't make any sense from time to time, and he thinks he knows a lot more about football than he does.

I don't know if I would classify their thoughts as short sighted, they were just basing their assumptions off of the current body of work. Looking at what Freeman did with the Bucs last year is hard to argue with in my mind.

Granted you can make a case for Sanchez, but with the team he has, he doesn't need to be good to win, he just needs to be less than terrible, and that run game and defense will bail him out. Coming out, I thought alot of analysts were basing their opinon on the PSU game, and while he was great, it was a 1 off performance. He hasn't really done much to change my mind, but then again I never really liked him.

Stafford has shown potential in the games he has been in, but with such a small body of work, and to date an inability to stay on the field, I think its hard to vote for him at this point in time.

Hopefully after this season they will all have a different answer when Stafford turns into the QB I hope/know he can be.

Well I still don't agree with their rationale. They basically said that it all comes down to "wins" and to me that is not how you judge a QB. If Tom Brady was on the Lions for his career, he'd surely have less wins than he has so far with the Pats. So if we had a perfect Tom Brady clone, how would you compare them? To me they would be perfectly equal, cause they are perfectly equal in this hypothetical, yet analysts will judge them by "wins" and Patriot's Brady will be regarded as the better player, but not for a logical and sound reason that is properly attached to the quality of the statement. I just don't think these guys get it, and I further think that their opinion isn't high enough quality to be shared with the public on TV. I appreciate that the networks enjoy having ex players and coaches on, but I just find it annoying when they come up short professionally, and I don't see how their weakly supported and illogical opinions have that much credibility.

Lets judge guys two years into their careers! I'm sure things aren't liable to change at all

Wins are a huge part of being a QB. Would you rather have a 12 win QB with a 70 passer rating, or a 6 win QB with a 120 QB rating? This assumes the same teams, just different QBs. And yes, someone who wins will be viewed as the better player, you don't play for stats, you play for wins. Its a team sport, and sometimes that works against you, but it is what it is.

I think as a whole people put too much emphasis on stats (like E. Sims or last years chargers). I blame fantasy football for this.

I'd want whoever the better QB is, and from the given information it sounds like the second QB is the better player. If/when I know the names of who those 2 players are, then I'll make my best decision, but I'll take the 120 passer.
