TSE wrote:Well dont' look at me, my plan was to sign Vince Young, he would come here to start, cause I already would have traded all 3 of my QBs at this point, so we could have had Samuel for some of that material, and then picked up Vince Young cheap and free. Maybe we need to trade them whatever they want, which we can get by trading Stafford to another team. They can tell us a list of their favorite players and we can work a 3 way deal. See how easy this is, once we trade Stafford, all kinds of options open up! :)

Screw Samuel anyhow if the price is too high, rumor has it Osi's on the block now. LOL

So KVB to replace Osi and what else do we have to pay, answer that one now if Samuel is dead? I'm in on giving Osi a 5 year deal. I'll give any man that can come up with 10 FFs along w/11 sacks in a season a 5 year deal; I'll take my chances. lol

lol at Vince Young. That dude sucks.

As for Randy Moss, pretty surprised he retired. He is getting up there but man did he drop off in a short span

Well he's on an NFL team, so he doesn't suck hard enough to not take a roster spot. Are you saying that no team in the league should take a flier on him at all?

I wouldn't sign him if he cost $1. Mike Singletary was a trainwreck of a coach, but his quote about "can't win with players like that" rings very true with Vince Young. He's a complete waste of physical ability.

Heard the Lions are supposed front-runners in the Carlos Rogers derby. Not sure how to feel about that. He's yet another guy that makes up for beign crappy in coverage by having amazing skills while the ball is in the air. We already have Alphonso Smith and Nathan Vasher that are like that, but Rogers is more reliable than either.

Cromartie wound up returning to the Jets after all that. Further proof that some guys will put up with incredible levels of disrespect for a little $$.

What if you could get 3 Vince Youngs for the price of 2, so only $2, still no? lol I think it's a helluva deal especially with the knowledge that the Eagles value him at a few million. I figure I'm either getting that value on the field, or I can trade it to the market, at least one team would pay a profit apparently!

And if not Carlos Rogers, the only other decent CB out there is Kelvin Hayden. But I wouldn't be opposed to giving a shot to Donte Whitner if we want to add another DB in Free Agency. Osi and Asante is what I'm hoping to hear soon.

Would like in:

WR Randy Moss FA
OT Jared Gaither FA (is this guy healthy?)
CB Asante Samuel trade
S Donte Whitner FA
DE Osi Umenyiora trade

OUT towards trades:

KVB
CW
Backus
Baitleson
Raiola
Harris the Punter

Spievey or Coleman (need some extra guys to throw in perhaps)
Hill or Fluellen perhaps
Stefan Logan (we might have other return options, that is he's worth anything in trade)

Oh and maybe if we trade Raiola we can sign Olin Kreutz to a 2 year deal. He and Gandy can hold that spot down until we draft out C of the future in one of the next 2 drafts.

Carlos Rodgers isn't bad, but how many corners do we need? With Wright, Houston and Smith already here, and guys like Vasher, where do you put Rodgers?

I'd say we sign Avril to a nice deal and call it a day

You put him in the top 4. And Vasher gets cut, and our best out of Aaron Berry or Jack Williams, one of those young guys is going to surprise. I've been hearing great things about how one of them is ready to break out. Doubt Vasher would have much of a chance if we signed Rogers or Hayden.

Now I know what happened to Vinny Cerrato, he re-emerged here as TSE 8-)

The Lions are pretty much done other than signing Avril and Carpenter. Nothing else that will be done will impact the on-field action in regular season games. Unless they bring in Ryan Harris or Rogers, either of which would surprise me.

Fine I'll settle for just Braylon Edwards then.

DE Hilee Taylor, claimed by Lions, gives up football

Hilee made a personal decision to pursue other opportunities beyond football and start a new chapter in his life,” Taylor’s agent, Kevin Omell, wrote in an e-mail to the Free Press

Eagles DT Mike Patterson has a brain injury requiring possible surgery and/or other treatment. The other day they had a report saying their DE Abiamiri tore his achilles. Looks like they are perfect for our KVB + CW package.

We are not trading KVB. Dude is like the leader of the defense and is the veteran guy we need there. Now CW could be a possibility

As for Patterson, thats sad. AVM is no joke. For anyone who watched Six Feet Under (arguably my favorite show ever), thats what Nate had IIRC. Just a fun fact for ya'll

Well KVB might have an injury concern hanging over from last year, so I wasn't expecting him to be traded as I wouldn't expect teams to pay top dollar for him right now, but I keep it open in case a qualified offer does come in place. If I had to pick the time that was most likely to expect a trade, it would probably be in the last week of the trade deadline after other DEs get hurt, KVB proves himself, our youth show they are developing well etc.

It doesn't matter if he's a leader and a veteran, maybe we trade him for a better veteran, why can't Osi be our leader? You would rather have KVB then Osi? Well fine for you, but hellz not for me. Osi is younger too, only 29 compared to 32 for KVB. KVB could be primed to be one of the most productive defensive players in the NFL, I'm not thinking about trading him because I'm dying to get rid of him, only because he's one of more most valuable trade prospects that don't interfere with a long-term setup and he's a convenient choice to use to juice a logical key trade that could make our next decade of football much, much better. And that's worth a little bit of leadership, ESPECIALLY now while we have lots of DL depth that we can afford to take from this unit to capitalize towards a bigger more ultimate goal later.

Jets released Cotchery, who could fit here as the #4 wideout if he's got anything left.

SF is desperately trying to deal Taylor Mays to save the embarrassment of cutting their 2010 second round pick. Body like Tarzan, play like Jane if Jane had a lobotomy. I've never seen a more clueless DB in coverage and that is not hyperbole.

Uggh, that would be depressing after missing out on Braylon Edwards. I liked the 49ers moves today to get Braylon for $3.5 and to steal Whitner from the Bengals. Man those Bengal fans are having it rougher than Oakland, geeze. Oh well.

Mays is also a guy that I had on my waiver wire watch list this year. I was already penciling in picking him up around halfway into the season. I'd trade him for still, but I wouldn't give up much. I wouldn't give any DL on the roster for him, at least not of our top 10. But I would trade a LB for him other than Durant/Levy/Tulloch/Hogue. I would trade any CB for him other than Wright/Houston/Smith/Berry. Maybe Vasher works, or Bobby Carpenter or Ashlee Palmer if we don't have room for those guys and can keep another young pup that might be interesting. I wouldn't mind giving them a nice veteran like Erik Coleman, but they would have to give us some change back, maybe Coleman plus KVB or CW for a really good pick or player and then Mays becomes a toss-in. I'd also trade Nick Harris for him or Tim Toone or maybe Derrick Williams. Maurice Morris or Aaron Brown would be fine, Felton if we can keep the rookie FB. So lots of expendable players are worth it to have Mays tryout for the preseason just for the chance we get lucky. His odds to pan out aren't zero despite the fact that lots of people think it is.

Just read an article about how the Niners sent a mass email to all 32 teams letting them know Mays was available. How subtle and insulting. Did you happen to get the email Ice? And how cheap could you get him now?

Well if they sent an email to 32 teams and he still isn't traded, perhaps that means he will just get cut and be available for waivers.
