OT: Stern makes 15 million per year. 500k per team

Stern's exact yearly salary is not known, but three sources consulted this week by ESPN.com all put it at $15-to-16 million.

One source said Tuesday, according to information he received from one team in the Eastern Conference and one team in the West, that the commissioner earns $500,000 per franchise annually. That would compute to $15 million per season before bonuses are added.

Stern will indeed pass on collecting a salary that, based on a New York Daily News report in February, has been estimated as high as $23 million annually.

+1 Whether he's a good commisioner or not is arguable but it's not unusual for someone in charge of a very successful business to get a salary in that range.

Sorry I do not see the difference. There are 30 independent businesses of which he is the head of an overseeing body that happens to be incorporated. The players are paid by their respective teams not the league. The only time the league is their boss is when a team goes into difficulty. Just because Wall Street has some boiler room scam elements whose corporate behaviour is beyond reckless doesn't take the NBA off the hook for its own gross excess. I cannot believe people can look themselves in the mirror and say "geez I'm surprised Stern doesn't make more". He should be rolled back the same as the players in the new CBA. If he isn't and is left untouched, the league and the owners have zero credibility to restructure player compensation.

He's that highest paid person in the NBA, and he there are several NBA players making more than him to do much less. E.g.: Shard, ($20 M), Redd ($18 M), Kerilenko ($17 M), Arenas ($17 M).

you say 18 per year isnt much but look at how many years he has being doing it. 18 mill X 27 years = 486 mill assuming that he made somewhere near 18 million when he started out.
