Fisher talks: Kobe's knee good, CBA & more

On a happier note, Fisher made it pretty clear when basketball eventually resumes, he thinks Kobe Bryant will look daisy-fresh. "He’s doing well. He’s healthy, he’s telling me and I saw it for myself, that his knee is the best it’s been in a long time," Fisher said. "I didn’t believe him, he was telling me he was doing some stuff at his basketball camp and I didn’t believe it, but I saw it a little bit in Manila so I believe it now."

i think kobe and the rest of the lakers are going to surprise alot of people this year. haters are praying for an early demise,then you have trolls like 34 dayz going in almost every thread thrashing kobe like a butt hurt ex girlfriend whether it's about kobe or not. a ring this upcoming season would push all laker haters over the edge.

I think there will be but it'll start around January or February instead of the original early Nov. date. I just don't see any urgency from either side to say otherwise. At least with the NFL there were labor meetings and discussions soon after the season ended. The first players/owners meeting with the NBA just happened two days ago and absolutely nothing got accomplished.

Everyone keeps saying Jan or Feb and I think the Owners are expecting the players to cave by then. Players hear the same stuff. I think the players will hold tight. But, in the end the players cannot win this.

I actually think the players will be the ones to budge first. The owners are well prepared to see this lockout through, they've got money. While at the same time you've got some players going overseas playing and getting a paycheck, not everyone is going to get the opportunity of doing so. Some are essentially going to be unemployed and I'm quite sure a lot of them aren't prepared for a long lockout. They'd have pressure coming from within to get a deal done and that will cause the players union to slightly budge from their stern stance.

Yeah I agree. The players will try to hold tight but in the end they will budge.

I think the players won last time, so the pendulum is bound to swing back. Though never underestimate D-Fish's ability to draw a crucial offensive foul.

Fisher seems very logical and civil in his negotiations. I think a lot of players are looking at this solely from their own perspective, while Fisher is trying to balance the concerns of the owners as well as not allow the players to get screwed.

Guy would make a helluva politician.

Hi all,

Long time lurker here...

Why is it that fans aren't trying to organize to influence the negotiations between players and owners? Boards such as this make that possible. I'd like to see fans develop a list of demands and consequences if those demands aren't met. Those demands/consequences would have to be hashed out among a large number of fans, but my suggestion for a demand might be that negotiations should be completed before any games are lost. The corresponding consequence would be that fans would boycott as many games as are lost due to the negotiations. If enough fans pledged to abide by these demands and consequences, then both owners and players might pay attention.
