Wow, you think really highly of Gray. I only view him as a role player, but have been open to adding him during the past, and that's not change now.

Are you all serious about Aaron Gray? A stiff who fouls constantly in a 13 mpg role would be completely overwhelmed as a starter.

He fouled a lot from time to time, but he still can produce numbers. Some games he could almost average a dbl-dbl in less than 20 minutes. Where could we possibly go wrong by paying him 2 million and having him platoon at center with Horford, Zaza, & Collins? If he gives you 12/12 & 1.5 blocks in 28 minutes, then that's all you need from your center, even if he does foul out in those 28 minutes. With Zaza coming off the bench, Horford doesn't have to play much if any center.

I don't know if this is the right place but there is a rumor that Zaza is about to sign with Turkish Club Besiktas. Allen Iverson has also played for Besiktas last year. Have you guys heard about this signing?

While many owners believe that a hard cap would add competitive balance to the NBA, Orlando Magic guard Gilbert Arenas isn't so sure. According to Arenas, under a hard cap system where the money is equal for all but the truly elite players, free agents would make decisions based on lifestyle.

He recently tweeted that, "Lakers, Dallas, Miami, Knicks, Magic, Bulls, Boston, and a few others always have the best chance at the top free agents due to city and money. So the smaller cities team can't compete. So they can never get better and they're always losing money."

"Private Equity Prince" Josh Harris Just Bought The Sixers Cheap

The new ownership group, lead by billionaire “private equity prince” Joshua Harris, will reportedly seal a deal worth between $270 and $290 million in the coming days.

While the Sixers may be one of the most boring, least star-studded teams in the NBA, this could turn about to be a steal for Harris and friends. Here’s why.

Forbes valued the Sixers at $330 million in January, ranking them 17th among NBA teams. In a lot of ways, this ranking is understandable. In the past three years attendance at the Wells Fargo Center has been horrific: 23rd in 2009, 26th in 2010, and 25th in 2011. Those numbers are even more embarrassing considering that the Sixers made the playoffs in two of those years. http://www.businessinsider.com/philadel ... art-2011-6

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Philly under this billionaire.

Forbes valued the Hawks at $295 million in January, ranking them 23rd among NBA teams. In a lot of ways, this ranking is understandable. In the past three years attendance at the Wells Fargo Center has been horrific: 20th in 2008, 23rd in 2009, 18th of 30 in 2010, and 22nd in 2011. Wait... what? Well Fargo Center is where the Sixers play, and the Sixers were 23rd in attendance in 2009, not the Hawks.

Philly has had poor attendance since 05. I believe it's due to the way the team has been ran over the years and since so many 76ers fans dislike Ed Snider.

How many fans in Atlanta actually respect the ASG? It can be difficult for an ownership to overcome bad press with all the court battles and a team that has made terrible draft choices over the years.

There was some concern by the Celtics that Rivers might choose to leave the team to spend more time with his family. But shortly after the season, he agreed to a five-year, $35 million extension.

“Doc’s proven with the players that we have that he will have a winning record,” Rondo said. “But most of all, he’s never going to settle. We always want to win a championship. That’s the only goal we have as a team and that’s his mindset.

“When you talk to him, he believes we have the talent and the ability to win a championship. That’s our standard. He holds us accountable.”

Rondo isn’t considering playing overseas now, but his agent, Bill Duffy, said he’ll revisit the option if it becomes clear the NBA season could be lost. Rondo is slated to make $10.4 million next season on a contract that lasts through the 2014-15 season.

Rondo said he has been talking to Pierce, Garnett and Allen regularly, and they are all worried about a potential long lockout.

The age of the returning Celtics also could become an issue. Allen just turned 36, Garnett is 35, and Pierce and Jermaine O’Neal will be 34 and 33, respectively, before next season starts. While health will always be a concern with an older team, a lockout-shortened season could actually benefit Boston.

Rondo, 25, isn’t worried.

“They said we were done two years ago,” Rondo said. “We could care less about that. We could care less about people saying we are done.”

Mike Woodson and Mike D'Antoni held a powwow Monday in New York as the former Hawks coach's candidacy to become a Knicks assistant has picked up steam with sentiment he is not the leading candidate for the head-coaching job in Minnesota.

OT: AJC: Javaris Crittenton charged with homicide

Post#217 » by HMFFL » Sat Aug 27, 2011 1:14 am

Javaris Crittenton, a former NBA player and Georgia Tech standout, has been charged with shooting a 23-year-old woman to death, Atlanta police said Friday night

Crittenton faces a homicide charge in the death of Jullian Jones, according to Carlos Campos, APD spokesman.

Jones was walking with others near 2915 Macon Drive in southwest Atlanta around 10 p.m. Aug. 19 when she was shot, Campos said. Jones, a mother of three, was struck in the hip and later died during surgery.

Two men walking with Jones fled and were not injured.

Investigators do not believe Jones was the intended target. Crittenton may have been seeking retaliation after being robbed April 21, Campos said. http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/former- ... 46197.html

Though the Heat isn’t very optimistic about its chances, expect one of the Miami’s first post- lockout calls will be to Denver free agent center Nene, who opted out of his $11.6 million contract for next season. It’s difficult to see Nene accepting a mid-level exception from Miami if there is a $6 million one in the new labor deal, but he told us previously that Miami is appealing to him. And he told The Denver Post: “If people think it’s about money, they’re wrong. I’ve saved my money. I could retire today.” http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-b ... dbits.html

Kevin Durant continues to eat like a college student, preferring unhealthy options rather than those that could help him add bulk and improve his conditioning.

“This past year, I was really big on eating a lot of foods with vegetables. That's all I really ate this past year was foods with vegetables,” Durant said. “I'm trying to stay away from the red meats and the fast food as much as I can, even though it's tempting.”

Durant, who has employed a chef during the season the past three years, recently hired a new cook to cater meals and ensure he's staying away from fatty foods.

“In the summertime is where I really kind of take a step back,” Durant said. “So I got to be mentally stronger and have more discipline and try to eat right.”
