Re: Training Camp Thread
Is the thread where we are going to talk about Beadle trying to sex the Packers?

Re: Training Camp Thread
Saw that Beadle story. Sounds like somebody prooobably overheard something wrong and then started a rumor based on it. More importantly, if she said what they claimed, who cares? Sounds like fun to me.

Re: Training Camp Thread
I liked Newhouse last year. Liked his high wonderlic score. OL can be complex so it helps tp have smarts. Sherrod also had high GPA. Barbre was example of very low wonderlic.
back to newhouse - he starts or backs LT. doesn't play well at G. Not sure he's ever been at RT.

Some impressions from last night
-For some reason, practice was pretty boring; not much team stuff going on
-House looked good
-AQ is having trouble getting reps, it appears
-Newhouse is a beast
-Sherrod looks strangely slim
-Tramon is Tramon
-Some screen pass problems
-Green is quick
-Couldn't tell much from the 2nd greatest TE ever, DJ Williams, but he caught the bunnies thrown his way

Re: Training Camp Thread
any impressions on Cobb Brims (I'm calling you Brims, and you better be okay with that, YOU GOT THAT!?)
Same with Alexis Green.
Also, based on last nights practice, who ya got, Grant or Starks?

Cobb did hardly anything. Just fielded some punts (runs straight, what a concept!) and had a nice catch on a fade route over some camp body DB.
Grant, although neither of them did much.

Re: Training Camp Thread
So you think Newhouse should be getting reps at guard rather than Sherrod, WB?

I thought the same thing looking at the videos of him in college. He carries 320 amazingly well. He looks like a guy that is big and athletic and can play OT whereas many guys are just big and can play OT. I'm not comparing Sherrod to Ogden as a player, but Jonathon Ogden was also a very slim looking guy considering how enormous he was.

OL/front 7 stats from one on one pass rushing drills:
http://blogs.greenbaypressgazette.com/b ... 1s-so-far/
Bulaga, Sitton, Wells perfect so far.
http://blogs.greenbaypressgazette.com/b ... 1s-so-far/
Bulaga, Sitton, Wells perfect so far.
Notes: Sometimes, the statistics don’t tell the whole story, especially in B.J. Raji’s case. He has had solid rep after solid rep, getting good, strong push, but just not quite beating the offensive player to get to the quarterback. … Bulaga has been perhaps even better than his perfect numbers indicate. He really hasn’t come close to losing a rep. … Some camp observers give ties; I don’t. If the defensive player doesn’t get to the quarterback or wouldn’t force the quarterback to leave the pocket, then it’s a win for the lineman on my grading scale. … Due to poor sightlines in Thursday’s practice, there may be a rep or two missing. The drill Thursday night was conducted on the far side of the field, across from where reporters normally view practice.

Re: Training Camp Thread
Kind of feels like Sherrod could use a year on the bench to learn the ropes and adjust to the NFL game, both mentally and physically.

Re: Training Camp Thread
Bulaga's play down the stretch was huge for us. If he takes another step, the right side of that line is scary.

#Packers RB James Starks says he has gone to a gluten-free diet. Up to 225 lbs from 217. Said old diet was why hammy took so long to heal

Re: Training Camp Thread
It is ridiculous that we took a WR in the 2nd round and he's well down the list of things I've thought about this off season. He could be a rare WR that is NFL ready from day 1 and still have a somewhat limited role.
I really hate when writers do this for effect. He measured 5-10 1/4 at the combine, dip ****. That still makes him very short for an NFL WR. You don't need to embellish it.
The runt of the class at Kentucky - Cobb is generously listed at 5 feet 10 inches - he found an edge elsewhere.

Re: Training Camp Thread
To be fair to the writer (maybe), if the NFL measurements are at all like the nba, then we know that players come adorned in sneakers with seemingly 3" heels involved. Plus, meh, let's see some overall wingspan and standing reach numbers, that'll tell you more.

That Cobb article is great. Dunne is doing a good job.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

What's Cobb's ceiling? Hines Ward's mind in Derrick Mason's body? Scary thought.
