Played ok from what I saw apart from a throw that took Encarnacion well off the bag, but Encarnacion made the catch and tagged the runner.

I was watching the game on and off while doing other things, but I saw 3 or 4 groundballs hit to him (including a slow bouncer that was a relatively difficult play) and he made them all look pretty easy. Definitely looks a lot more comfortable than Friday night.

Heh, I was going to say that. I may not have caught the slow bouncer and certainly didn't see the throw that took Encarnacion off the bag (I was watching on and off), but the 2-3 plays I did see were routine throws that had slower arm action and noticeable loft on them.

So if EE continues to get hits, and some how miraculously gets his average up around .300 is it possible to get some sort of compensation for him in the offseason?

yeah, i noticed a couple slower looking throws too, but they all got there in more than enough time. Maybe watching bautista for a month there makes Lawrie's throws look slower than they actually are?

Compensation for a DH I believe is rated on : PA , AVG, OBP, HR, RBI, however compensation is different for 3rd baseman(no idea if EE would be considered a DH or 3rd base for this).

To qualify as a type b free agent you need to be between 21% - %40 in that position group
To qualify as a type a free agent , you need to finish top %20.

EE needs to finish strong this season and he should get to type b. He seems to be a better hitter towards the end of the season but some stat checking would need to be done to see if he falls into the %21-%40 category right now. And again, no idea if he would be considered a DH or 3rd baseman.Maybe someone else here may know..

If we can't land a big slugger this offseason, I wouldn't be surprised to see EE sign here again next year . At least he hits better at the end of the season, when it really counts and less worry about his defence.
