Predict the Bullpen for Next Season

Post#1 » by TorontoRaptures » Mon Aug 8, 2011 6:46 pm

It's clear that if we are to compete in 2012, we will need an improved bullpen. This produces some questions:

How many guys will we presumably have to sign?
Who from our pen is likely to come back?
How much money will it cost to fix the pen?
Who do you think will be the closer next year?

I think Janssen will handle a setup role, Litsch is likely in long relief, and Perez will return as a left handed specialist. Is this a reasonable assumption? What are the odds of Camp, FF, or Rauch returning and do we want them? What sort of talent will be available in FA or trade?

Hope I didn't ask too many questions. Just trying to get the conversation flowing.

Only Players that MUST return is Janssen but i wouldnt mind Perez and Litsch.

dump the rest, they are bums..... Francisco is the only other guy i would "consider" giving a second shot cause of his Texas success, he may bounce back. Then again i bet he has trade value cause of his Texas days.

Rauch is worst.... i cant believe the JAYS keep handing him the ball in the 9th.... that is a crime. Someone needs to go to Jail for that.

Just realized I forgot Villanueva as well. He's probably likely to return to the BP next year too. Anyway, my original questions still remain.

And number15, I agree with what you wrote.

Janssen will be back.

Villanueva will be there if he isn't starting.

Perez is likely to be back.

FF burned a key bridge with his unprofessional behaviour towards the media. Even if he continues his recent success, he won't be asked back.

Rauch will not be back due to his unprofessional outburst on the field. And let us not forget, he sucks.

Camp probably won't be back.

I doubt very much Litsch will stick in relief.

I don't see anyone in the minors who's a surefire bet to earn a relief job next year, but you can probably allocate one spot from the minors. So that's 4 total. The other 3-4 will come from outside the organisation, and your guess is as good as mine as to who those people are.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Carlson should be back next year. Ledezma could be up too. Don't write off Perez from possibly starting yet.

Brian Tallet as our long reliever/lefty specialist/set up man/closer is all we need.

A warm, enveloping embrace is what I would feel in my heart whenever he came out to close. I think I saw somewhere that starting is better for his health, though. Who knew?
