Yea if we could just get Leonard Davis, Kelvin Hayden and Lofa Tatupu there would be a lot of good competition for the weaker starters like Chris Williams, Jennings/Bowman and Roach.

Yup just read that. That's good news. Sounds like we're not going to bring in Tatupu and probably won't bring in any more veteran linemen.
And Hester has been given the starting flanker/Z/#1 receiver job. It sounds like Williams will be the other outside receiver and Knox will be in the slot.

I think Bennett will be in the slot and Knox will be backing up Williams for now. They're selling "Hester was our best receiver last year even though the #'s don't show it". I was expecting Knox to start opposite Roy but it doesn't look like that's the case right now. I don't see Knox as a slot guy at the moment.

Agreed.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say Knox was in the doghouse. While I'm sure the Bears are happy he bulked up a little, he's had issues with not fighting for balls.

Bears pass on Hayden. Seems like he may not be fully recovered from the neck injury.
I'm fine with 6 corners. I'm still hoping they'll add another o lineman.

Thank you for pointing this out. One of the biggest flaws with our receiving corps last season was their inability (or maybe unwillingness) to physically fight for the D*** ball. Our guys would LITERALLY stop & wait for the ball to come to them instead of going to the ball.
Every successful QB in the league has WRs that fight for the ball.....Example: Jay Cutler in Denver had Brandon Marshall.

Knox had 97 balls thrown his way last season. He caught 51 and the defense caught 11. Not good stats.

Yup and not only were the 11 picks on targeted throws bad, it was the worst in the NFL.
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

Re: "The Quickest Offseason Ever" Thread
The Bears released their first depth chart today.
http://www.chicagobears.com/team/depthchart.asp
I hope we can get a veteran linebacker to put in the mix (Tatupu), because I don't like JT Thomas, Iwuh and an undrafted rookie free agent being our only backups. Adding Kelvin Hayden to the mix at cb would also be nice. IMO Spencer will most likely move into the starting lineup at center, Garza will slide to right guard, Louis to left guard, and Williams will be a backup and work on being the future at center.
