Houston gets the 2013 NBA All-Star Game

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Thu Aug 11, 2011 12:11 am

The NBA All-Star Game returns to Houston in 2013!!!

We're proving to be a good host city for big sports events, especially in the middle of winter when we have some of our best weather and the rest of the country is being overrun by penguins & polar bears.

Hoping to see another Super Bowl (we'll definitely get one before Dallas), and I think that we're already on schedule for another NCAA Final Four.

Who knows - maybe we'll get an NHL All-Star Game if the Islanders move here. :)

Yeah I'm mad hype about the ASG. I was pledging in Pennsylvania the last time we had the ASG, so this time around I will surely be livin it up.

I really enjoyed the Final Four activities so I look forward to the NCAA's return.

Why not just move the Aeros up to the NHL?

Which cities did we beat out? And wonder what the criteria was...

What city is supposed to have the All Star game this season (Feb 2012)?

edit: Orlando
(was hoping for a bigger city that has more pull in the NBA to want the lockout to end sooner)

If the lockout cancels the All Star Game this year then Houston still gets the 2013 game and Orlando gets the 2014 game. Looks like the League really wants it here as soon as possible.

If the league is still on lockout in 2013...well, I think that the All-Star Game is the least of their problems!

Just mentioned this in the General Board thread (lots of whining in there): I wouldn't be surprised if the plan for the ASG is to have it played in Reliant Stadium.

Might be incentive for me to finally get to Houston. See the ASG and a couple of regular season games as well.
