Ilgauskas did play for the national team. Z didn't play for the national team in '08 because the organization did not like him adding the extra mileage given his injury history. Look at the alternative, see: Yao, Ming.

I watched a lot of Jonas last year in the Euro league i think he will be special. The stats he put up were insane look at his per 36 just a hell of a ball player and body. The problem i have with the pick for the Cavs is will Tristan rebound? I mean Jonas is gonna be a great rebounding along with shot blocking and scoring. The other thing is if i can get a low post player you do it. It is nearly impossible to find a good post player now a days. Because all of them want to play on the outside ala Tristan. I am rooting for the guy but he is a major project IMO. Prove me wrong Tristan but he is very raw and needs work IMO JV will be a much better pro IMO.

Tristan's offense is non existent right now sounds like he has a good work ethic he will need it.

I have no doubts that you have watched Jonas play a little bit, because your description of him his pretty accurate. However, I have major doubts that you know much about Thompson based on how you described him.

One of two major reasons the Cavs drafted Thompson were his defense and his rebounding, but you are asking if he will rebound? Not sure where that came from.

Also, you state that Tristan just wants to play on the outside? Huh? That is completly made up. Thompson plays near the basket nearly 95% of the time.

If you are going to bash the guy please at least bash on things that are actual concerns. (ie. FT shooting, lack of a jumper, etc..)
so they pick him because of his "rebounding" even tho he was absolutely horrible on the defensive end?

I am not sure why this thread is devolving into a hard-on for Jonas V by some Toronto fans and a hand full of CAV fans. I am ok with Thompson due to his familiarity with Irving from their High School days. Building team chemistry is more important to me than randomly putting talented players on the roster who don't mesh.

Probably because any Jonas thread is locked. I understand that those threads would devolve into "the Cavs are idiots for not drafting Jonas", but the kid made the Jonas fans look pretty smart in the under 19 Euro tournament. Fwiw, there would be a ton on pro Jonas talk here had we drafted him, we all would have been most likely saying what great pick it was and it would be worth the wait for him to get here and all that.
Maybe we can just start a thread and call it the "Jonas brothers" thread, where all the Jonas fans can go and post their pro Jonas talk and the rest of us can just ignore it?

If Cavs fans want to discuss Jonas then I have no problem with that (assuming its a civilized discussion). I have a problem with the countless number of Raptors fans who have been coming in here and trolling with their Jonas threads. The thread that got locked just the other day was all about how big of dumb***** the Cavs were for passing on Jonas and how we are a terribly run organization, blah blah blah. Does that really deserve to stay open?

Personally I dont know why any Cavs fan cares to talk about Jonas. What's done is done and Im going to put all of my support behind TT, but for those that want to talk about him, Im ok doing a Jonas thread to keep it all centralized.

When did he played? in 1994? i seen most of the championships and he wasnt there, in 2000,2004,2008 olympics we was praying him to come and play and help us win gold but he didnt, it was same story every year.

Sorry BMac if you took my post as criticism. You are absolutely right about the Raps fans wanting to trash our FO. I dont care to talk about Jonas much either, but I was being facetious about the Jonas brothers thread title, you know we could have called it the 11 year old girls (Jonas Brothers) thread. Anyway, I am also fully behind TT, and hope he becomes twice the player Jonas ever does.

Tristan Thompson Scouting Report

Post#70 » by SeabassP » Wed Jul 13, 2011 3:05 am

http://nbaplaybook.com/2011/07/12/draft ... -thompson/

Tristan Thompson is a athletically gifted 20 year old (and physical freak – 6’8″ with a 7’2″ wingspan) who didn’t have the most consistant freshman season that we have seen, but he did show tremendous flashes of potential this year. Still, it was a surprise that the Cleveland Cavaliers took Thompson with the fourth overall pick with Jonas Valanciunas still on the board.

Great write up, but we do already have a topic about Thompson. I will merge it into there.

Thanks,

He did not sign anything with Toronto. This 3 week old article simply states that the Raptors have made a deal with Valanciunas's Lithuanian team that will allow him to play for Toronto for the 2012-'13 season.

Hopefully his signing was not part of our decision at all. At the time of the draft everyone knew it would only be a one year absense, and its a throw away year.
Hopefully they're telling the truth and they simply had Thompson rated higher. We really aren't going to make an educated conclusion for a couple years.

I was surprised that he was picked THAT early. This guy will become a great player, he has a ton of upside. Though i cant see him contribute anything this year..

Even if Jonas becomes top center it doesn't mean that Cleveland made bad decision drafting TT. I can see Cavaliers rebuilding nicely.
