Bennett needs a 2 inch growth spurt in a bad way or he will really need to put in a lot of work to be able to play the 3 spot. Right now, he's a typical tweener; a power 3.

ESPN mentions with regards to Andrew: "Unfortunately, he does not play hard all the time and he lacks toughness."

Can anyone confirm/deny this? I never got that impression from the (albeit) little bit that I've seen him play.

In big settings Ive seen Andrew go to work and step up clearly being the best player on the floor (EYBL and usually big tournaments down south or against a good opponent).

However, when its lower competition he seems to try less. With Vaughan he was idle most of the games and still seemed to average around 30 points. The most I saw him try was when he was matched up with Kevin Pangos who seemed to bring him out more considering the match up of the 2.

One positive to take from this though is when he is not trying on offence, he still plays tough D from what I have seen. Still attitude needs to change for sure.

Great news about Wiggins but I wish Zabo was still in the top 25.

I have to admit that after reading that it is crazy how many Canadians are going down to the States. How is high school ball ever going to get better in Canada if everyone keeps leaving?

High school ball is going to get better a little by seeing these kids when there young. Guys like Wiggins, Kabongo, Pangos are starting to draw crowds and there's more coming up that will too.

Canada basketball in the end will get better alot because of playing higher competition and better coaching/development.

Anthony Pate just transferred to St.Patrick's if that's what you were linking. He's going to get a chance to make a difference from day 1. He was also looking at Montrose but would of had more of a reserve role. If people haven't seen, here are some highlights on Anthony from last season and this summer:

Wiggins is now #1 in scout.com's 2014 rankings as well.:

http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1098143.html

Also #1 on Maxpreps:

Looks like it is beginning to become unanimous, Andrew Wiggins is the best prospect in North America for 2014.

Pardon my ignorance on this thread, but why are we getting hard ons projecting a draft 3 years from now?

There are a number of outcomes:
He gets hurt and loses his stock value,
Other players get better than him,
He becomes a punk.

Or is he the next LeBron James?

It's worthy of noting, but it is way too early to tell. He and players in his class will develop considerably by the time that the class of 2014 become seniors.

FWIW, I personally like Dakari Johnson to eventually become the top player in high school basketball. Enormous player with a tremendous amount of upside. Of course, Wiggins will probably always be up there as well.

He's the best Canadian prospect of all time, he's the consensus best player in his draft class, he has been a well known phenom for more than a few years now and he has great skill. There's a lot to get excited about, he isn't the number one prospect for no reason. All he has to do is get through a couple more years of school without getting horrifically injured or dying and he'll be one of the top picks of his draft class.

Hate much?

This is a thread celebrating the individual and collective achievements and prospects of Canada's increasingly impressive crop of young ballers. If you can't get behind that basic concept just stay out of it.

Personally, given I knew nothing about these guys before RGM I find it informative and encouraging.

This is the high school thread, not the future draft threads. It is meant to praise and follow the Canadian kids on there high school, collegiate and maybe even NBA journeys. We all understand there is a long road ahead but the part that makes it fun is the "what if" factor. We also use this to try and get HS hoops more popular so people support basketball more in out backyard.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about a kid named Mahsi from Thornlea.. how does he compare against some of these Canadian ballers? I know he's faced some of them before but I don't know how he did

With many of NCAA coaches on hand including UCONN's coach Calhoun, the best players in Canada showed out at the Caribana Classic:

Have any of you heard of Matt Willms? Sounds like he is a player to watch based on this article.

After de-committing from Louisville, Negus Webster Chan is to announce his college decision this Friday. Apparently hes down to 2 in Iowa State and Missouri:

I think he'd fit better into Iowa's system
