The biggest question is what happens with Texas. TAMU is fleeing in no small part because of the Longhorn Network, and TTU and Oklahoma both resent the hell out of it too.

PAC-12 would LOVE to open up Texas for recruiting by having a member school or two down here. Texas and TTU could go west, they could add Fresno and Boise to get to 16. Or SDSU which wants to play with the big boys too.

Oklahoma and Okie State are a package deal, ditto Kansas and K-State. If those schools stick with Texas and add schools like BYU, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, maybe Notre Dame then they have a viable football conference.

Notre Dame will never join the Big Ten, they have zero interest in losing the recruiting angle and getting smothered by all the member schools around it. Plus they make too much money playing the service acadamies, USC, and BC every year. If they are going to join a conference it will be with the remnants of the Big East (where they are a full member in other sports) or with a conference like the one I laid out above, where they can widen a recruiting and TV base.

Big losers if Clemson and FSU go to the SEC are Virginia Tech and Miami. They have to go back to the Big East and lose all sorts of fertile recruiting ground and TV money.

If the Big 12 crumbles I don't see any way Texas doesn't become an independent. No major conference will take them because the Long Horn network.

I heard a radio interview this morning with some guy from Orangebloods.com, sort of the unofficial UT football site. He thinks that is very likely and that they might form some sort of independent alliance with BYU, Notre Dame, and the service academies.

This Longhorn Network is a disaster. They're gonna charge cable companies more than triple what the Big Ten Network charges to carry it, and it's all for one school--not twelve. Already Mack Brown is ticked at how much access they want. He compared it to Hard Knocks but 24/7 and he's had to alter meetings and conversations with coaches and players because of it.

lol, reminds me of the Missouri situation with the B1G. Desperately wanting in and thinking they're a shoe in but then gets rejected

This was breaking news in Houston, they interrupted the PGA Championship to announce it. Aggie fans are devastated. They have no idea their national profile is so meh

What's the B12 going to do with them now?

That's some serious lulz right there. I have a friend who literally just moved to TAMU today, I can't wait to hear what he thinks.

One of two things is going on here:
1. The SEC is waiting for another school to "commit". They didn't want to face any potential legal ramifications from poaching TAMU, so they are waiting for TAMU to quit the Big 12 first and join with another team like Mizzou or Clemson.

and/or
2. TAMU just pulled the mother of all leverage moves to spit on Texas' shoes and get a better cut of Big 12 money. There is one talk radio host here who is in deep with the Aggies who has said this is what is going on from the very beginning. I find it hard to believe, but it's not OOTQ.

I still think the Big 12 is gone within 3 years, unless it can steal the top schools from CUSA (Memphis, Houston, SoMiss, ECU, UCF) and basically admit they are Texas/Oklahoma and everyone else.
