The thing I hate is the players wanting to get out of the contract that they signed. Can never blame the clubs for wanting to keep their players. Same thing with the Modric situation.

I don't feel that way. That CL final wasn't decided by the red. The game was just starting.

If Bendtner scores that chance I was referring to--which any competent striker does 95% of the time--Barca has what, 3 minutes to get one back? The aggregate was virtually won/lost directly on that play.

Regardless, the squad was good enough, and Fabregas and Nasri have to shoulder some blame for the lack of success, which they aren't.

He's pretty much been the jewish kid at christmas for a long time and this isn't the first time Wenger's kids have left the for better teams although some haven't done as well since then.

Actually Cesc is teh first kid to leave. Other players that have left have left becuase they were past their primes or have their career go down the toilet. (Helb anyone?)

How many seasons did Henry play at Arsenal and how many seasons did Cesc play? It should be the same and Henry atleast won premier league.

Henry was 29, 30 when he left and on the clear downturn of his career though,

It was decided by the red, definitely. Arsenal was up 1-0 at the time Lehmann was red carded. But that was a totally different team, before the transition to the younger squad.

Nasri and fabregas definitely shoulder some of the blame for the collapse last season. Nasri was balls the last couple months, Cesc was nowhere near his normal form, and helped back heel us out of the champions league.

My favourite Eboue memory was when we played Wigan, he repeatedly passed the ball to the other team, and then proceeded to tackle Kolo Toure. He was then subbed off after about 10 minutes of play to one of the loudest choruses of boos I've ever heard.

That and when he dressed up like a tiger.

Reports linking Arsenal to Moussa Sow on Talksport and the Mirror. He's a perfect striker for us. Yes, please.

Will never forget this game. It's almost as if you knew Eboue was going to do something dumb. I think he committed the foul that led to the free kick and I think it was on Lucas too lol. What an epic dive by Lucas.

Exactly, 80 minutes and down to 10 men definitely changed the game, and if you see both the goals that Barcelona scored that game they were definitely preventable, as they were both tight angled and in the near post, I still believe that if Lehmann was there those definitely would've been saved.

He wasn't on the downturn of his career, he just didn't have a good enough team around him, Cesc by himself wasn't enough.

The season before his last he scored 30+ goals for you guys and in his last season he scored 10 goals in 17 due to injuries. He left because he knew you Wenger wanted to go younger with his squad especially with Adebayor having a great season that year as well as David Dein leaving. 29/30 years old is not the downside of somebodies career. He even scored 25+ goals in his first 2 seasons at Barcelona.

Lehmann was red carded first before Sol Campbell scored that goal

In hindsight, Henry actually was on the downturn considering the drop off in number of goals scored and just overall impact.

He was definitely on the downside, imo. Still an effective player, no doubt, but certainly not his dominate self he was before that.

I was mistaken about the timing of the goal in CL Final, but it was definitely a factor in that final. Especially since it was Pires who was taken off to make way for Almunia, iirc.
