Jim Thome on waivers...can I hope?

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Mon Aug 22, 2011 11:12 pm

Yea, I know the Yanks will be blocked before they can even sniff Jim Thome but how good would this guy look in our line up as a DH? Sure he'll be nullified in the WS BUT...you gotta think "We're going to see Justin Verlander twice and Josh Beckett twice...we NEED big bats to wear these guys out..."

To me, adding Thome to Cano, A-Rod, Teixiera will WEAR the crap out of any arm the Yanks oppose. It reminds me a lot of how Boston used A-Gonzalez to revive Ortiz's career. Just that ONE bat can be the difference in wearing a pitcher out.

No one knows if A-Rod will be his old self with a big bat or even if he can carry the team like he did going to the WS....Tex is all or nothing...the DH position between Posada, Chavez, etc is up in the air.

I think he'd be a great fit but I doubt he'll be here...one can dream...

I wouldn't mind at all to have Montero from now to the playoffs but the way Cashman talked on the Michael Kay show, it was like, "Yea, don't get your hopes up. Might see him for 20 at bats then back down..."
