If Jones is out a significant amount of time, I doubt he'll make the team. Zombo potentially to PUP means Walden wins by default and there's suddenly spots for at least one and maybe 2 of So'oto, Lattimore, Elmore.

I think Elmore is cut regardless. Every report made on him has been negative. I do agree Jones' roster spot is tenuous, even with the Zombo injury.

Elmore's got time to turn it around. I wouldn't close the book on anybody yet, but I agree that if cuts were made today he would be cut in half.

If Zombo goes PUP - Jones won't get cut IMO - He & So'oto backup OLB.

I'd close that book on Elmore, he looks bad in the games and according to those watching camp, he struggled mightily. It was worth a 6th round flier on all the college production by Elmore, but some guys like him just can't overcome their physical limitations on the NFL level.

That said, now i do wish that Ted had either drafted an OLB in the first few rounds or signed someone because our depth there looks terrible. As it is, Walden is nothing special as a starter and was on the street last year before we signed him, but after Walden and Matthews, it's nothing but projects. If say Matthews had to miss a few games, especially earlier in the season, our pass rush could be in real trouble.

Obviously Rodgers is the one guy we'd miss most if an injury struck that involved 3 games or more, but Clay would be a very close second.

Lang is officially the starter for the Pack at LG and it'll be nice to see him get a chance to concentrate on one position. The defensive lineman were also asked to compare Lang to Colledge and some of the comments were exactly along the lines of what we have always thought of Colledge.
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/128225603.html
"Not to belittle Colledge, but I think T.J. will definitely be more effective," nose tackle B.J. Raji said Monday shortly after coach Mike McCarthy announced Lang had beat out rookie Derek Sherrod.

"T.J. can stop that initial push," nose tackle Howard Green said. "Some guys are naturally powerful. When T.J. comes off the ball he can deliver a blow to you.

"(Colledge) plays the game to what he knows how to do, and that's use his technique. He uses his head to kind of make up for the stuff he maybe lacks physically. T.J. is kind of a bang-bang, knock 'em back guy. He has good feet also."

Defensive end Ryan Pickett called Colledge a "finesse, position" guard. He said Lang "has got a lot of dirtiness, which you want an offensive lineman to have. Like a lot of fight."

"T.J.'s a stronger player with a pretty good punch," said Raji. "In the (zone) scheme we run, we go a lot lateral so you want a stronger guard so, if a guy gets his hands on him, he won't get knocked back so far in the backfield.

"Even going against Colledge this year he was trying to reach me or finish me with a cut. Going at my legs. Dummy calling me. Just things that don't show much confidence. He's not really strong and doesn't have too much confidence."

I know guys like to support their teammates and everything, but the opinions in this article are pretty overwhelming. In other words, Colledge is teh suck.

Colledge was a run of the mill lineman. I think Lang is the same. That's fine.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Colledge was terrible at run blocking. I don't know if Lang will be as good of a pass protector, but if he is, he'll be a better overall OG at a cheaper price. I would rank interior OL as a primary draft need next year though, especially with Wells as a FA. DE, OLB, and OG/C next draft as big needs IMO.

Derek Sherrod at LT

Rob Demovsky
No. 1 punt return: Bush, Peprah, Lee, Shields jammers. Lattimore, RTaylor, Crabtree, Smith, A. Green, Kuhn inside. West the returner.

tom silverstein
Sherrod and Newhouse appear to be sharing backup LT snaps.

How disappointing would it be if our first round pick wasn't a top backup at any position?

Is West the returner just because Cobb is hurt right now?

I guess Newhouse and McDonald just got into a fight, took a few guys to hold Newhouse back. 2 OLs fighting? Weird.

Silverstein also clarified that Zombo isn't eligible for the PUP because he passed his physical earlier. Crappy rule.

Not disappointing at all. They should have had him playing OT from day 1. He was never an OG. He'll be fine at OT.

Finally the rookie OL at their college positions like I wanted

The #2 OL this am

LT- Sherrod / Newhouse
LG- Schlauderaff
C- McDonald
RG- Dominguez
RT- Newhouse

McD 1st backup at both Gs & C.
Newhouse probably beats Sherrod as 3rd OT.

Schla & Dom fight for #9 on 53. Other on PS.

Sherrod will be OK by midseason with more practice focused at LT.

Latest I heard is that Green will return kicks and Cobb (when healthy) will return punts. They felt the injury factor was too great on kicks and don't want Cobb getting hurt there.

Yeah, my guess is that they are trying to figure out who is the better more versatile WR/ST player between West and Borel if they did decide to keep one of them.

Four tight ends on No 1 kickoff return: Crabtree, Quarless, Taylor and Williams.

I think they keep TEs and try to put West, Borel, and Gurley on the PS
