Great post, listened to most of them. It's always interesting to go back and see how well some albums age, some just don't age that well at all. Personally Rakim doesn't age well at all for me, great in his time and dope lines but I just can't listen to it anymore really. Sad.

How didn't you post Gucci Time though?

This may sound weird, but Japanese Hip-Hop sounds very much like East Coast Hip-Hop in the late 90s, with some 2011 freshness and thrown in.

One of the best Hip-Hop tracks I've come across...don't know if it's the Kool-G-rap-like video or what...but it helped.

I love piano beats like this

This is one of the rawest beats I've heard in a long time. They don't make it like this anymore.

I tend to find that most foreign rappers usually have great ears for beats, it's just a damn shame I can't understand a word they say though. When they do attempt to rhyme in English it usually seems forced and takes away from the track. I also wish that more rappers would work with over seas producers. It's obvious though, overseas fans have a much deeper appreciation.

British rappers are great. Tinie Tempah got me interested when I downloaded his CD last year (when it was released in the UK). I've been listening to Chipmunk and Tinchy Strider (among others) a lot for the last few months. Many songs have GREAT hooks.

I tend to agree with you most of the time bro when it comes to music, but I have to disagree here

I like British rap, you already know I'm a fan of Tinie Tempah, but I don't think any rapper from there can come close to Tyler. I think the main thing is that I am very confident Tyler The Creator won't go down the same path as some of my favorite artists have in the path... the dreaded mainstream music path.

We have seen it with Wiz, they tried to get Lupe with Lasers, and even Tinie is getting a little mainstream play now. I know Tyler won't go down that path, mainly because the general audience listening to the radio will be like, wtf is this. And that my friend, is something I am very happy with.

I skimmed through Carter IV. Maybe cause I skimmed through it, and I'm not a Wayne fan either, I didn't like it. The only two songs I like are the interlude with Tech N9ne and Andre 3000 and 6 foot 7. Also the outro with Nas and Busta Rhymes was aight, and Bun B. Shyne sucks lol.

Tyler is too dark and creepy for me lol. I'm not a huge lyricist person (unless the lyrics just straight up suck) so I'm ok with the mainstream stuff. I'm not gonna dislike an artist/song just because he/she is mainstream. Tinie got me started on British rap when he released his CD in the UK last year (when I downloaded it) but it wasn't until the beginning of the summer when I began to listen to other UK rappers. Nice beats and good hooks...great stuff you can just chill to (both the mixtapes and CDs - Chipmunk's Transition is a very nice CD IMO).

Completely agree with you though that Tyler isn't going to go mainstream...just doesn't seem like his style. Rolling Papers was crap but I liked Lasers a lot actually.

To me - music is music...it's either good or bad. Being a mainstream artist doesn't mean much to me. If the final product is good, I'm happy. If it's crap, I'd hate on it just as much as I would hate on a non-mainstream song (same goes for it being good, I'd love it just as much).

If you like good beats/hooks (and good lyrics - not pointless rambling), check out some Tinchy Stryder and especially Chipmunk. If not, ya'll suck. jk

I see what you're saying, I'm actually the same way too. I'm not saying I hate all mainstream music, I'm just not the biggest fan of it. Like you said, sometimes if it has a catchy hook or beat I will have it a repeat. Although I dont like admitting it, I actually like a lot of those artists. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I kinda consider myself a Roscoe dash fan  he always makes those catchy hooks

By the way guys can you please check out my friend rapping. Another poster (knicksfan5494), who also knows the guy posted this in a separate thread but it didn't get enough recognition. Dude's a great guy, really got some talent. He does this for fun, but he is to good and I hope he makes something out of this. He deserves to make it big.
