Dealing with a charley horse/dead leg

Alright so basically what happened was I got charley horsed really hard on my left thigh on Friday. I was hoping the pain would last maybe 5 days max but its been almost a week and I still have problems.
I cannot bend the left like all the way back when stretching, i can only move it up to maybe 90 degrees before the pain becomes to much for me, I also cannot run because of the pain. I have no problems walking though... was wondering what is there i can do to make it better?

The problem is I have a soccer tournament Saturday and Sunay.

I provided ice on it at first, and also been using boiling water as well. I also added some Voltaren Emugel a few times if that helps. Is there any medication i can take, or maybe something i can wear on it for a few hours that can help me run at the tournamnent without any pain? Any help would be kindly appreciated

Ibuprofin for the pain and swelling (advil) and massage it.

what is a charley horse? is it the same as a corkie?

A charley horse is a popular North American colloquial term for painful spasms or cramps in the leg muscles, typically lasting anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours. In Australia it is also known as a corked thigh or "corky."


for the first two days after the injury you should have been adopting the RICE method (rest/ice/compression/elevation) resting..icing it regulary and wearing a compression bandage on it while keeping the leg elevated to stop blood getting to the bruise. After 2 days some light stretching and easy walk moving into a light jog when you feel the muscle is ready. Make sure you ice after exercise though.
