Anyone with MLB tv?

Post#1 » by JYD » Thu Aug 25, 2011 11:29 pm

So, I'm overseas, with obviously no access to Jays games (my god MLB is horrible with access and world marketing, including no youtube). Was thinking about getting MLB TV for next year..but

I tend to work shortly after games start..is it possible to start watching a game, then pause it using the DVR feature (I think that's with a premium package), then simply continue watching when I get home?

If not, how soon after the final out are games put up for replay?

On the whole, how do you find the service? I downloaded the viewer for the PS3 and it seems like it's pretty well organized and setup, just wanted to see if anyone here can give some feedback.

Im not sure about your original question about watching games later but as a subscriber I'm very happy with mlb tv. Mostly just because I can watch everything which is all I really care about.

I'm pretty sure if you floated around Google for a while...you'd find some illegal streams

I know the streams exist and how to find them..like I said the problem is I typically work...and torrents as far as I know don't exist, so this seems like the only way to watch a full game. But it seems pretty good and I might give it a shot, especially if basketball is having problems. Ironic that I originally got turned off baseball because of the striking there hehe.

Thanks for the feedback chaps.

You can start watching a game from the start at any time, even if it's not over yet. That's on computer or PS3. On iPhone you have to pause the game and then press play later (as far as I know) which can be buggy and skip to the live stream sporadically. But on computer and PS3 it's easy to start the game from the beginning (or any inning) at any point during or after the game. I have the DVR functionality which they charge $20 for (it's BS that they charge extra, but whatever) so I'm not entirely sure how it works with the basic package.

BTW, I doubt it's every game, but I often see Blue Jays and lots of other games on usenet or torrent. Never tried that route 'cause if it's not in semi-realtime (like the now standard tape delay or if I pause to go get a drink, then catch up through the next commercial break) I've always had a hard time watching sports. Just saying there are lots of full games available for download after the fact and I would assume for them to exist they must get put up fairly quickly, although assuredly not until the game is completely over.

And charging for DVR functionality is a bunch of crap. I was planning on looking at MLB tv next year 'cause I never want to pay a cable tv bill again, but that's the kind of thing that would just make me refuse even if I didn't care about the extra 20 bucks, 'cause it's cheap ****.

are you (or is anyone you know) a rogers subscriber? if so you can just watch all the games on rogers on demand online... amazing quality (HD) and you get most of the mlb tv perks

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
