Yanks @ O's: time to go streaking!!!!

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Fri Aug 26, 2011 12:52 pm

There was a hurricane that swept through the Bronx last night on the form of three Grand Slams! The boys in pin stripes will need to continue raining down thunder and lightning with AJ Burnett on the mound.

This has to be Burnett's last regular rotation start. Enough is enough with this guy.

Somehow he's getting worse.

Shut him down for a while.

It is funny that cashman remained us that burnett should be judged based on his performance, not his contract, but burnett is still on team because of his contract.

How could a 10+ year veteran be so bad at his craft?

Pretty easy. His unorthodox delivery is what freezes hitters but it's dependent upon his finding that arm slot and delivery in form. This is why the Yanks were willing to part on Contrearas. He had a weird delivery that the Yanks felt would lead to back problems over the long term. Rob Dibble...and the list goes on.

But Cashman likes these guys who present well. He's so defensive about Pavano and Burnett (not so much with Igawa). I don't understand why...

burnett has huge tattos on his arm, so i dont think he presents well in that corporate sense

cashman is defending him b/c he under pressure for giving him that huge deal

Dude, just about every athlete Subscribes to the stereotype of "I just got released." my favorite was Marcus Camby's Korean tattoo that actually translated to fool. Ok, that's not true but you get where I am going with this...

No, Cashman likes these guys who present well to the media by saying what they want to hear. You'll never see Cashman draft or trade for a David Wells...or any temperamental player. Hell I doubt he'd go after Paul O'Neill or guys who call players out for not hustling.

Carl Pavano sounds like a real guy in interviews but that's without throwing a ball.

And that's why Cashman will defend these guys to his deathbed...and why I doubt AJ is taken out because he's here for show not performance.

exactly, and now we are just 6 games ahead of the stinking rays who find ways to win..... this yankee team is just one frustration after another... shutout today by a 7-9 pitcher... I don't get this team.... I won't bother following tonights game..... if we win, good... if not.. no suprise..

Finally Curtis Grand-street-derson gets the Yanks back on track. Austin who? The baddest cat in the jungle.

If Cashman panicked like most of the NY fanbase Nova would be in the NL putting up a 3.5 ERA, along with Montero and Betances, and Jimenez would be in NY putting up an ERA of 6 and we'd be calling for his head. He's easily New yorks 2nd best pitcher right now. If you take away his 1 rough start 2 weeks ago against KC when he gave up 7 runs, his ERA would probably be under 3.5

Panic? You're another clown missing the point. salary on Pavano, Igawa, AJ Burnett only makes the salary of CC or even Jeter escalate to unprecendented levels...and some of that is justified. Sorry. The proof is there...

The PROBLEM comes in trying to lure FA...clearly the Yankees are NOT the #1 destination anymore for contenders. Certainly front office behavior doesn't help.

Hence, you can ONLY hope these guys like Hughes and Nova develops into a #1 or #2.

That said, the pitching doesn't make me think it's championship caliber.

But that's beside the point....I can tell you are a TV watcher because bad contracts don't matter one way or another attendance is what suffers...
