last 5 tournaments
2009 Slovenia 4th,France 5th,Croatia 6th
2007 Croatia 6th,Slovenia 7th,France 8th
2005 France 3rd,Slovenia 6th,Croatia 7th
2003 France 4th,Slovenia 10th,Croatia 11th
2001 France 6th,Croatia 7th,Slovenia 15th

how out of these clasifications you reach to the coclusion that Croatia and Slovenia are FAR more consistent than France is beyond me.By the way group D is indeed a big FIBA joke.

The 2001 and 2003 tournaments are irrelevant, since probably at least 2/3 of the rosters are completely different now. The argument was the seedings, which are based on the recent accomplishments. And since we're comparing those three countries, let's look at the last 3 tournaments just for fun:

2005: France 58 - 68 Slovenia

2007: Slovenia 67–66 France
France 69 - 86 Croatia
Slovenia 88 - 74 France

2009: Croatia 79–87 France
France 69–62 Croatia

Group A isn't stacked there are only 3 good teams there - Spain, Turkey and Lithuania. Poland without Gortat aren't any good, Portugal isn't good either and Great Britain doesn't have any decent players besides Deng.

Not that anyone cares but DJ Mbenga has been added to the Belgium roster after Axel Hervelle suffered from a severe knee injury ..

He wasn't added in the first place cause he isn't 100%, but he'll join the team after all

Not 100% or not, he still needs to be on that squad.

Yeah that's what everyone was thinking too .. Our current starting center (Van Den Spiegel) played for Real Madrid a couple of seasons and is pretty good too, but a guy like Mbenga can be very valuable. Big body, shot-blocker, experience at a high level.

Rasho Brezec wrote:Doesn't he have ego issues?

Not really, there's an issue not directly related to the National team itself that seems to be the problem.

To make a long story short, he has a pretty big feud with the manager that discovered him. And that guy happens to be a Basketball legend in our country, and a lot of people (probably including our coach) don't appreciate that ..

Ego isn't really an issue with DJ. He was at every qualifying game despite not being on the roster. I think the biggest problem with the coach is that he has a policy of only wanting to play guys that actually play with their teams. DJ hasn't played a minute of professional ball in months now, and that's the dilemma.

On one side there's the coach's policy, but on the other side DJ's a great defender, shot-blocker and there are A LOT of good Centers in this tournament so you will need a guy like him to match up with those other big guys ..

Which is bull because he would've been very useful.

I think he should have made the team instead of Kyle Johnson for sure just so he can get the Eurobasket experience. That said, he hasn't really played much in the warmup games. He has talent for sure, but he is a bit out of control and shot happy.

It's not like he was a lock to make the squad or anything. GB's frontcourt is pretty solid and deep. It's just the backcourt that blows.

Turkey has great depth in the frontcourt, but lacks the same quality in the backcourt. With an NBA caliber point guard Turkey would be the team to beat.

Are you saying then than if you swap Calderón and Tunceri between those two rosters then the Turkish team is better? really?
