Stupid Pop up banner at the bottom
Is there any possible way to keep the Axe Deodorant Bodyspray banner from popping up every single page of RealGM. Even if I try to hit the X, a bigger advertisement pops up. I logged off for a while. Hmm, it disappeared now. -BMP

What browser are you using? I use Firefox and i've never had a Axe ad come up on this site.

It was Axe Deoderant that slides up from the bottum. If you go to the X to close it, slide up window appears. It must be flash or something because you cannot right click on it. But, if you manage to hit the x and close the other window, it leaves an arrow in case you want to see it again. Regardless, once you go to the next page, it starts all over again.
Yeah, it comes back up. It is unstoppable. If you need a screenshot, it is unremovable. and sometimes covers buttons.

This. It is terrible. Almost makes website unusable. I have never seen an internet ad so invasive.

Re: Stupid Pop up banner at the bottom
The worst part is I mainly visit RealGM while at work. Thus, every time I tab windows, there is a pop up with a commercial with sound that AXE makes hard to close. Sometimes, the window stayed there even though I clicked the close option. Thus, I have to close that Page when I am not actively using it. This isn't advertising, it is harassment. I know now that I will never buy AXE again for harassing me. LOL
But, I find that if I click the "X" to stop the page from loading, the advertisement will not load. Thus, I have to click the link in RealGM and then stop from loading. But, that is a hassle.

I just fired up Chrome to see if I could get it to come up and I got nothing. Are you guys still having problems with it?

Re: Stupid Pop up banner at the bottom
Nice. I think AXE will lose more customers than gain with a type of advertising that is aggravating to prospective consumers. Especially, a pop-up video that covers part of the screen all the time.
Just saying. It pissed me off. So, I won't use their products again and I even bought their shampoo. I think many people would do the same.
How could something aggravating or invasive inspire someone to use their product?
Trust me, I handle all the advertising with my small company. We spend $50k a month including TV, Radio and websites.
The advertisers analytics probably show many people clicking on their product when it is really this form of advertising popping up on its own. Thus, I doubt anyone truly intends to watch this as it is blocking what they came here for in the first place.
For the Mods. I use XP at work with both IE and Firefox. Yep, it affects Windows 7.
In addition, after you hit the "X" to make the bar disappear, it only makes it invisible. You cannot click on anything that is covered by this invisible bar.
I did notice that if I manage to hit the "X" without the big video popping up and then a Black Bar pops back up covering the bottom of the screen.

Also, this Survey thing keeps popping up.

The survey is random, but takes up a good part of the screen.

I just logged into an old PC at the office downstairs with older versions of IE and this banner did not pop up.

It is there with multiple browser types. It is bad enough that it is there but it should be able to at least be able to be closed once clicked. But it keeps popping back up and cannot be closed. Kill it kill it with fire.

I think that ad popped up while I was browsing RealGM the other day but I just pressed X and it was gone. Haven't had it pop up on me since.

Re: Stupid Pop up banner at the bottom
This is seriously obnoxious. And sometimes when I try and close it out I accidentally click the ad which opens a new tab of their facebook or home site. This along with the video ads playing is really really annoying. I understand you're trying to make money, but seriously, it's just become unbearable.

Re: Stupid Pop up banner at the bottom
Yeah this is being discussed in the advertising thread as well. Ads are necessary to keep this site running but these type of ads have to go. A visitor to this great forum shouldn't have to download and install ad blocker software in order to enjoy the site. And many people don't know anything about ad blocker stuff. I've been here for many years and spend a lot of time here but this ad is so annoying I've cut my time down and will continue to do so.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This type of ad would be fine in an article, but on the forums it reloads too many times because there is a lot of navigation.
