Why did we trade Marcum?

So to summarize some of Avenger's sweeping generalizations and claims:

1. It's not easier to pitch in the NL than the AL East. Marcum's 2011 season shows this.
2. Ricky Romero is a barely above average pitcher despite his impressive FIP/xFIP/SIERA numbers in the AL East.
3. I apparently believe Ricky Romero is one of the best pitchers in baseball despite never having said such a thing.

I wonder if he'll ever back up these claims or even respond to Schad's post exposing his flawed argument. My guess is no.
