Same here... the categories are also so broad that I feel like I'll be able to take basically whoever I can think of.

yeah, categories should be fairly easy for this one. but research will still be fun.

Will we be able to move players around from category to category, or are we locking them in?

Awesome, first pick for once! And I cash in to the max extent... the greatest of all time, and Front Office master:

I debated a little bit about position scarcity, etc... but ultimately I figured BPA was the way to go.

You can't pull a Portland and not take MJ. Would be insane

For categories like front office, single digits etc. can you use players that were coaches/wore single digits in the ABA?

Single digit just says some point in his career, so I guess that could be any bball comp.

Surely Coaches will be extended to ABA as well.

Actually never mind, I don't want to hold things up. After much deliberation and argument among members of the front office, we have decided to take the "other" guy in the GOAT discussion because we all know champions are built from the inside out.

Mr. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Image

In the 1971-72 season, Kareem averaged an incredible 35/17/5 with the GOAT offensive and total win shares for a single season.

We think this is a fantastic pick up as Kareem is a proven champion who just happens to be an unstoppable offensive force with his sky hook (take that Russell) and a great defender (2nd all time in Defensive win shares) that can play in both a slow it down and uptempo offensive style. He's also one of the best team players you can ask for and is easily one of the smartest people to ever come through the league.

He'll be placed in the Front Office category.

Cat #3?

That's not coaching, it's having played in at least 1 ABA game.

I've ummed and arred for a while on who to take and I've decided to go with Larry "The Legend" Bird for the Front Office category.

Funny thing is that until recently I would definitely have taken Wilt. His stats have always overwhelmed me.
But reading Bill Simmons book has changed my view. Bastard.

That's honestly the first player not named MJ that came to mind. There are just too many questions/arguments against him that made him worth taking #2.

Those of us in the 2-6ish range really have tough decisions to make because after MJ and Kareem, arguments can be made for a few players. Love the Bird pick btw.

Thank god there's at least one person, who I won't have to convince that Wilt was an ****. Of course Simmons is as biased as sports writers get, but his book convinced me as well when I read it some time back.

Great, I'm a huge fan of the ABA. I hope to get some steals through some of the ABA players, who never got the recognition they deserved.
