Lockout Situation

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Mon Aug 22, 2011 12:38 am

So far, there's still time before the preseason jumps off in late Sept. With the lockout still in play, neither side has settle on a deal. With that said, do some of you think the NBA will settle on a deal before the season begin or will the NBA pull another 99 season or no season at all?

The writing on the wall is that there is not going to be any NBA season. Look at how many players are signing contracts overseas.

On the positive end, it will be interesting to witness how NBA players will fair in these European leagues. There has always been talk about whether or not overseas players' games can translate at the highest level. It will be interesting to see whether or not NBA players can adjust now as well.

There won't be a 2011-2012 NBA Season. I'll just have to enjoy college hoops this year. And good grief, Z'bo - what were you/weren't you thinking - SMH.

He wasn't.

On Tigers basketball, where do you think they will stack up against teams in CUSA and the country? Joe Jackson should be much improved and same applies to Will Barton.

Returning players Jackson, Barton(s), Black, Crawford, Carmouche and Witherspoon alone pretty much ensures a romp through CUSA.

Adding Adonis Thomas will turn them into a powerhouse. Before all is said and done, there's no reason they shouldn't be a top ten team.

Adding Luke Walton as an assistant was an awesome touch by Pastner as well.

The Tigers far and away have the most talent in CUSA. However, you never really know. Last season they were projected to finish fairly high and came in fourth in the CUSA standings. I expect them to win outright this year, but I think they may receive somewhat of a challenge in contests with Marshall, UCF, and UAB. I think those four teams are the class of that conference.

I think this season has the potential for much bigger and better things this season jman. Jackson's play overseas in particular leads me to believe we have a lot to look forward too. And Adonis is a special type of player. Can't wait. Was ready to be in overdrive all season long with the Grizz and Tigers - oh well, guess my energies will all be spent following my alma mater.

Adonis is still very raw and Joe Jackson is a bit inconsistent still. I think by his Junior season, he will be an All American. I think it's Will Barton's year to breakout. And, hopefully Wesley Witherspoon can bring some consistency. Memphis has the talent to be a top 10/15 team imo. I think they'll finish top 20. Just my opinion.

You would think both sides would try their hardest to get a deal done and start the season on time.

SMH.

Go UCLA Bruins.

What do you think of the Wear twins? Do you think Lamb can fill the hole on the wing for UCLA?

Why? Can't you use ESPN3 if none of the Canadian stations cover US college ball?

Sorry, I was referring to "LIVE" games. Sure, I can see alot of college games on TV but I can't attend any of them. How many other NBA cities have Div1 Basketball teams as well in their backyard? I don't think there are too many. Maybe "unique" is a poor choice of words. Perhaps substitute "fortunate" in it's place.

I think he meant superior - outstanding- top elite teams like Memphis. Not just "Div1". There are like 5 Div1 schools within 60 minutes of me but none of them crack the top25 consisently. (Providence College, URI, BC, UMass, Brown). Similar for NYC and the Knicks. and LAL and the UCLA

If you are in Atlanta you got Georgia Tech and the Hawks but they are rarely having years where both are elite.
Indianapolis had Butler and Pacers but I wouldnt consider either to be a powerhouse.
Philly has St. Joe's and the Sixers but again - not elite.
Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette? yeah right!
Chicago Bulls and Northwestern Wildcats?
SDSU and the GSWarriors? naw
Phoenix Suns and Arizona State University is a close but not elite.
UCF and Orlando Magic?
NJN and Princeton?
