There's no way the Reds make that trade. You're pretty much offering 3 struggling prospects and a terrible hitting 1st baseman for a superstar mlb player.

In fact I wouldn't feel depressed if management threw bags of money at them and they turned it down to sign elsewhere. What i will feel depressed about is if they don't go after these guys at all, or low ball them with some **** dollar amount.

When have you known any Toronto Sports team to low-ball any superior athlete? If anything, they up the price.
Also, why would you say they may turn down the Blue Jays offer? This ain't the NBA, these guys play in the summer and imo, more than 80% of ball players do not have a problem with T.O. and actually love it.
Finally, players are fans too. Even players in the National League have noticed Toronto's Roster and are impressed by AA's moves. If I was a US player, I couldn't find anything wrong with the Toronto situation and would be quite excited as they have the money, city, and a great clubhouse that has promise.

You guys are basically ruining Snider's career with these posts. We need him to stop thinking about food, not turning his teammates into entrees in his head.

I assumed that Rogers might not open up their wallets because they would be more concerned about their bottom line, and stock prices. One bad quarterly earnings report and they might put a stop to any big time spending. Of course that is just a possible scenario, but with greed that Rogers often shows I wouldn't be surprised.

For once, just one can we not over think impending free agency. If the money is there to take a run at Prince or Albert you get it done, period. It really appears as if this team is not going to win with Adam Lind at first so the options are simple: you sign Prince as I assume Pujols won't be coming to Toronto and with his age (despite his dominance) I think Prince is the better fit.

This may be the one year where NYY and Boston won't be in the running for an impact player we are after. So make no mistake, this helps us out a great deal. I am a bit weary of what Anaheim will be able to offer. But make no mistake, you sign Prince if you have an opportunity to do so even if it in in excess of 20 million dollars per season and then you celebrate doing so, not contemplate it after.

I understand that whenever a massive deal is signed, you must look at the potential ramifications of the contract. However, Prince has not shown anything to suggest that he won't continue being a dominant hitter for the next 5+ seasons. And that is how contract negotiation works in the game right now, if a player's performance suggests they can be dominant for 3+ years they essentially get a contract that will pay them for much more than that.

Or we could just trade for Votto, sell the farm; and wait for his deal to expire in 2013 where he will be paid just as much as Prince.
